"Come on Aly, just do it."
"No! That's disgusting!"
I watched as my best friend Taylor drowned her cheeseburger in ketchup.
"It's good, I swear!" She said.
"Yeah, maybe for you. But I'd rather not eat a food that was created by the devil."
She laughed a little and went back to eating her burger.
Taylor and I had been friends ever since the first day of second grade. I can still remember the day: I had decided to try the monkey bars for the very first time. Not knowing what I was doing, of course, I dropped to the ground on my stomach. Laying there hardly able to breath, I could hear the sound of feet coming towards me.
I looked up and saw a small girl with brown hair starring at me.
"You shouldn't be going on those if you don't know how to use them," She said in a snobby tone.
Speechless, I just stared at the girl. Her expression had changed as she lent a hand to me helping me up.
"So what's your name?" She asked as if nothing had happened.
"Alyssa," I sputtered still trying to catch my breath, "but most people call me Aly."
And from that point on, we were inseparable."I can't believe that you turn 16 tomorrow!" Taylor shouted as we waited for my mom to pay the bill for our food.
"I know! It's going to be a big day! I'll finally be able to drive! And we won't have to wait for our parents to do things for us.." I slightly gestured over to my mother who was slowly signing the bill. We both cracked a smile and giggle a little.
"Are you guys ready?" My mom asked.
"Yep!" We had both said at the same time.
"Mom, do you think that I could take the car later today?" I asked timidly, "Taylor and I wanted to go to the mall."
"Not so fast girly, you're still 15!" my mom said.
"Eh, it was worth a shot."
On the way home, Taylor and I talked about what we wanted to do tomorrow since I would be a driving women.
"So first we will go to the strip mall downtown, then we will go to the mini mall on the north side of town, and then..."
I had zoned out. Taylor had a tendency to babble a little when it came to shopping. When we were younger, Taylor had told me that she didn't have time to do sports because shopping was her sport.
"Aly? Aly?! ALY?!"
"WHAT!?" I shouted.
"Have you been listening to me at all?"
Taylor made an annoyed face as I shook my head.
"I was asking you a question!" She half screamed.
"Calm down, I'm listening now. What was it?"
"Do you remember that singer boy that we found on YouTube when we were younger?"
"Oh yeah! Austin Mahone! How could I forget? He was adorable! Why?"
"Well last night he crossed my mind. So I went on YouTube and watched some more of his videos and he is even cuter than before! And he's also single!" Taylor said with a wink.
Taylor had been trying to set me up ever since my last boyfriend and I had broken up last year. We were pretty much like most other couples; we liked each other, started dating, kissed, did some things, lost interest, then broke up. Nothing special really. But according to Taylor, it was a big deal that I had been single this long.
"Taylor there's no way that Austin Mahone is going to want to date me," I said with wide eyes.
"It's worth a try!" She laughed.
She was obviously kidding, but I still wanted to see where she was going with this.
"So why are you brining him up anyway?"
"Because! Guess who's able to drive tomorrow? And guess who lives in San Antonio? And guess how far away San Antonio is? NOT FAR AWAY!" She exclaimed overly excited.
My mom pulled the car into Taylor's driveway.
"So it's a plan?" Taylor begged.
"Sure. I'll pick you up tomorrow at 6:00."
