Hide the pain

It was 10pm when Harry finally decided to leave. He crept over to his wardrobe where he had hid his broom. He brought it out and grabbed his trunk. Then he realised that he had no way of carrying the trunk. This was going to be difficult. But he was leaving now. He climbed on the roof, swinging the trunk up first. He got onto his broom and put the handle of the trunk over the broom, so it was hanging.
Hermione would have a fit when he found everything in a mess in his suitcase. Good thing it wasnt too heavy yet. He kicked off the tiles and flew off. He knew the general direction of The Burrow. He just hoped he was going the right way
--
After hours of flying, it was starting to get light, but he was flying over fields that he recognised.
He was nearly there.
It took longer than he expected due to the hanging trunk with the Hogwarts crest on.
After a few more minutes, the house came into view. He smiled to himself, despite being awfully tired and hungry. It was only then that he remembered he hadnt eaten in about 4 days. That made him feel even more hungry.
He touched down in the garden outside the front door. He walked up to the door stumbling with the case. It had been so long since he had been on the ground.
Someone must have heard him arrive, because he was tackled in a hug. He winced at the pain of his back but covered it up. They couldnt know. He could tell by the build of the person that it was Ron.
Next Molly appeared. She hugged him and greeted him before pulling away.
She smiled at him and invited him in. Ron made a comment about him looking tired and he just grunted in reply. He was exhausted. Molly said he could get some sleep, but he must eat first.
'You must be very hungry flying all the way. I could have just apparated there and back with you, you know'.
In minutes a full english breakfast was set down infront of Harry.
He couldn't help himself. He just stuffed it in his mouth. It had been a while since he had had proper food.
Ron snorted before Molly said 'Merlin. Are they not feeding you Harry?'
Harry's heart stopped for a few seconds before he realised she was joking. He just awkwardly laughed.
Out of the corner of his eye he could see Ron's face. Does he know something is up?
After he had eaten he went upstairs with Ron. He flopped on the bed he was staying in and fell asleep straight away.

He woke up to a feminine voice. Hermione was here. He didnt know she was coming. He opened his eyes with a greeting of
'oh hello Hermione. I didnt know you were coming?'
She answered back with a,
'Well my mom was having trouble with work and it was stressing my dad aswell. So i thought i would get out of their way and come to somewhere where they know i'm safe'
Harry sat up, wincing as he stretched.
Hermione looked worried.
'Are you ok Harry? You look like you're in pain'.
He looked towards her and nodded.
'Im good my back just aching a bit from constantly sitting upright for so long'.
She didn't seem convinced but nodded at him.
'Get up mate, lunch is nearly ready. You have enough time for a shower if you want one. I expect you would want to get clean after the journey. Your trunks in the corner'
With that said Ron and Hermione got up and went downstairs.
Harry got up and got in the shower. The hot water burned his raw skin where he was beaten.
When he got out he realised he hadnt got a shirt out of his trunk. Ron's room was at the top of the house. He doubted anyone would be up here now. So he just walked out of the bathroom back to Ron's room. He was looking through his messy trunk for a t- shirt when he heard a gasp behind him.
He twisted around quickly, it was only Hermione. Then he noticed her looking at his chest.
That was when he remembered that all the marks, cuts and burns from hot pans were on show.
She looked him straight in the eye.
'Harry? Who did this to you?'
He couldnt help it. Tears leaked down his cheeks.
His legs gave way underneath him as Hermione pulled him into a hug, being careful to avoid the painful marks.
Someone must have heard something was happening because footsteps pounded up the stairs. It wasnt Ron though. It was George who appeared at the door.
'What happe... oh merlin Harry. Your back. Are those burns. What..?  Who did that?'
So much for it being hidden.

After they had managed to calm him down they sat him down, waiting for him to tell them what had happened.

He told them everything. Once he started, he couldn't stop. He told them about how they beat him since he could walk. About how they would hit him for the slightest mistake. How they would starve him.
They just sat and listened, with the occasional gasp from Hermione.
By the time Harry had finished, tears were pouring down Hermione's face and George was obviously holding back tears.
It wasnt long before Fred appeared looking for his twin, with Ron in tow.
Harry couldnt repeat it all, so Hermione did it for him. Now all four of them were sniffling.
They kept saying sorry. For not realising it before. And he kept repeating that it wasn't their fault. Molly called them for lunch and they all quickly wiped away tears as Harry put his shirt on.
He was so embarrassed that he had broken down infront of them like that.

They all went down for lunch, trying to hide the fact that they had all just been crying. Molly wasn't fooled. She wanted answers, but Fred just said they would tell her later. Ginny looked equally as worried.
