Alana stepped out into the foyer, now dressed in much more comfortable clothes and a fresh face.

It didn't take long to spot her family, they stood near the exit by themselves, chatting quietly.

"There she is!" Klaus beamed down at her. "You were brilliant!"

"You looked really pretty," Hope wrapped her tiny arms around her cousin's long legs. "One day I wanna dance just like you."

Alana crouched down to her height, "You can do whatever you like if you put your mind to it."

"You know what, we might just go wait in the car," Rebekah nudged her brother who nodded and scooped up his daughter before leaving.

Then Alana stood alone with her father in the foyer. It was silent between them for a moment or so, neither aware of what to say.

"I got you these," Elijah held up a bouquet of flowers and awkwardly handed them over. "That's what normal parents do, right?"

"Yeah, um, yes." She paused for a moment. "Thank you. Not just for the flowers, and for coming tonight. But for looking after me these last few months. It means a lot."

Taking the suited Original by surprise, Alana reached up and wrapped her thin arms around him. After a second he hugged back.

Alana was the first to pull away, tucking some hair behind her ear as she did.

"I know we haven't known each other that long but it doesn't change the fact that you're my daughter and I love you."

She was quiet for moment before responding, "I love you too, dad."

For such a small word, dad brought the biggest smile to his lips, one that he was unable to wipe off for the rest of the night.
