"hi, is this seat taken?" i look up to see a girl smiling at me.

"no, it's all yours."

she sets down her things and slowly sits down. "don't worry, i won't be here long. in case you feel awkward." she laughs.

i sat there feeling slightly uncomfortable. didn't know why.

"calum!" my friend luke comes down from the stairs and takes the other seat next to me.

"where's the professor?"

"i have no idea."

"and who's that girl next to you?"

we both look at her and see her looking back at us. we turn back to our conversation very awkwardly.

"jesus, luke. could you be any louder?" i whisper.

"sorry, mate. she's just really pretty."

so he noticed too. that's probably why i feel so intimidated with her by me. why i feel uncomfortable. am i being shy?

"dude, invite her to our party later." i give him that "wtf" type of look.

"fine then i'll do it." luke starts to lean over, but i quickly stop him.

"no!" i whisper yell. "i'll do it."

he sits back down and stares at me for a good 10 seconds. "i'm waiting."

"yeah, well you can wait until the end of class. professor just walked in."

"fine, you pussy." i flip him off and turn towards the front of the class.

the girl gets up to move next to a group of other girls who are a few steps down from my seat. i watch as she walks down the steps. kind of observing her.

she was a piece of art. everything about her seemed so perfect. her curly hair fell lightly, all the way down to the small of her back. her eyes were fluttery and bright. her lips looked soft and full. all too good to be true. but there she was, standing in all of that beauty.

"creep much?" michael and luke laugh.

"when the fuck did you get here?" i look at michael, who is still laughing at me.

"like five minutes ago. you were too busy staring to notice."

i shake my head, "whatever."

"who is she anyways?"

"i dunno. she sat by me earlier."

"yeah, and then she moved." luke joined in.

"aww did you scare her away, calum?"

"you know both of you need to fuck off." all of us look back to the board and start writing down the notes. philosophy is so not for me. im surprised michael and luke are even in here. they don't understand shit.

"calum's gonna invite her to our party later."

"is he really?"

"if he doesn't pussy out after class, then yes."

"don't put it so hard on him, he's still our little boy." they look at me with weird faces.

"i swear to god if the pair of you don't shut the fuck up-"

"mr. hood, is it?" the whole class looks at me, including her.

"yes, sir."

"is there something more important you wish to discuss? perhaps share to the rest of the class?"

i stayed silent for a few seconds, hearing people laughing quietly from different parts of the room. the loudest obviously being luke and calum.

"well?"

"no, sir."

"next time you feel the need to disrupt the class, let me know. i'd be happy to let you come down here and teach."

everyone turns back to the front. god that was so humiliating. as soon as i look down, i see her looking up at me. i wanted to look away but i couldn't bring myself to do it. she was grinning at me. after she turned back around, i directed my focus back to the lesson.

"all right class, see you tomorrow." the class finally ended. these two morons kept pushing me towards the door.

"now don't worry, i know this is hard" michael starts.

"but it'll all go smooth if you stay cool." luke finishes.

we wait by the door until she exits the classroom. luke and michael slowly walk away, leaving me standing by the door alone. once she finally gets out, luke pushes me into her.

and that results in her dropping her books.

way to fucking go.

"shit, i am so sorry about that." i quickly kneel down to help her pick up her books.

"oh, no worries."

as we both get up from the floor, i stack the books she didn't pick up onto the pile already in her arms.

"do you need any help carrying those?" i ask her.

"no, im fine. thank you though." she starts to walk away.

luke and michael start facepalming themselves.

"wait!" she stops at the door. i walk up to her as she starts to turn to me.

"my boys and i are having a party tonight, i was wondering if you maybe wanted to come by and hangout?"

she pleasantly laughs. "i'll see."

she starts to walk away again. "wait!"

"yes?"

i stood there for a few seconds, building up the courage. "can i get your number?"

she shakes her head while tearing off a piece of paper. her pen clicks and she starts writing down numbers. once she's finished, she slips it into my pocket.

"here you go, don't let it go to waste." she smiles and walks through the doors.

"i won't." i say to myself.

luke and michael start clapping and giving me a round of applause. "that's our little boy!" they put their arms around me and we walk.

making our way to our next classes, i realize.

i didn't get her name.
