PROLOGUE

Everyone has seen me naked. Well, almost naked.

It was New year 2011 and as most Aussies do, my family and I were at the Sydney harbour bridge waiting for the fireworks to go off and the celebration to begin.

"One minute!" My little sister had excitedly burst whilst dancing around in her little pink dress. I was 14 and trying my best to look good and impress the cute guy squeezed next to me as I also tried to contain the pest known as my sister.

"Lucy hush until it's time" I said impatiently, battered my eyelashes and pulled up my already too high skirt, to reveal my newly grown hips and butt.

"But aren't you excited Els?" Lucy said still bouncing up and down. The cute boy smiled, his golden hair and green eyes looking into my soul.

"Is that your name?" He said and I kind of opened my mouth and said nothing because, I was stunned he was making conversation after my half an hour of flirting and continuously hitching my skirt up.

"El I mean" he continued when I didn't reply

"It's Nellie, but you can call me whatever you like" I had said regaining my confidence.

"Cool I'm Ashton" he flashed his smile at me once again before the 10 second count down started and my family all linked hands.

"MUUUUUMMM" I moaned at her and rolled my eyes pretending I was too cool for my family (as most teenagers my age did back then).

"Shut up Nellie" she said and ignored me. So I did.

"3...2...1!" Everyone chanted in sync and the fireworks started and people were cheering.

I looked over to Ashton and found him staring at me.

"Isn't this where people have a New Years kiss?" He laughed leaning in and All I wanted to do was kiss him.

I looked over at my family to make sure they weren't looking and it was safe to make my move. Unfortunately it was never that smooth in the Mhoore family.

I looked over just in time to see Lucy running through the crowd and away, and my parents making out, unaware of the caos going on.

I ran after Lucy, not even turning to tell Ashton where I was going, knowing I was going to murder Lucy the second I got my hands on her.

"LUCY! STOP! COME HERE!" I screamed as I ran after her to a brick wall. I don't know how the bloody hell she did it (I swear that kid is Spider-Man) but she was on the top of a very VERY tall brick wall.

I slowly breathed in and out before taking on that hell of a wall. It was all kind of a blur after that, all I remember was getting to the top of the brick wall to find half my clothes had disappeared.

My top was no where to be seen and my too-high skirt was at my ankles. If having the thousands of people who were already there staring at me half-naked on top of this tall wall wasn't bad enough, turns out ALOT of people had been filming that very spot and I was an over night YouTube sensation.

So when I say everyone has seen me naked, I mean EVERYONE.

People still stop me in the school corridors, 3 years since that day, and ask if I'm really 'the 14 year old stripper'.

And the boy? Never saw him again.

But the reason I remember the day so clearly is because it was the day I developed the one and only passion I still believe in.

Music.

When I had no where to escape from the endless laughing and teasing I would go home and just sit and write and sing and listen and listen and listen.

I would listen to anything, LITERALLY.

I sat there (and I still do) searching up things in YouTube like 'Chinese disco in the 80s' just to expand my taste.

All I do nowadays is listen to music. No one ever sees me without headphones or some sort of music playing in the background.

Some people need air to breathe, I just need bands.

And this is my story...
