Ally stared into Azris' piercing green eyes, searching them.
"It doesn't have to be like this," Ally pleaded, desperately. "You can still stay here."
"I can't. I want to stay, but I can't," Azris said sadly.
Tears started streaming down Ally's face. Azris gently cupped Ally's cheeks. "I'm sorry Ally," he said, wiping away a tear. Another one quickly replaced it. Tears now poured down Azris' face as well.
Fear and sadness crept through Ally. "I might never see you again," She sobbed, more and more tears flowing from her pinkened eyes.
The light sprinkling outside turned into a heavy pouring. Both Azris and Ally's hair and clothes, as well as Azris' wings became soaked.
Azris closed his eyes for a moment: an unsuccessful attempt to both stop his tears and pretend Ally wasn't right, but she was; They might never see each other again.
Azris opened his eyes and noticed Ally's lips were quivering. An idea came to him.
Azris hesitated before saying, "I can give you something to remember me by." And with that said he pressed his lips against Allison's. For a moment, Azris feared he would be rejected, but Ally only pulled him closer, deeper into the kiss. Her lip no longer quivered.
A minute, maybe two passed before they pulled apart. "Goodbye," Azris whispered. He opened up her wings, gave Ally one last look, and took flight.
Ally stared at the sky, unable to move. She hoped, and almost believed Azris would fly back. For a long time she just stood there, but fatigue caught up to her and she fell to her knees. She looked down into the puddle before her. One last tear streaked down her cheek before she collapsed into the puddle and fell asleep, not caring whether or not she drowned in it.
