(couldnt choose between these two)
i was a forest nymph (bring on the fantasy) laying in my bed of flowers and toadstools. my willow in full bloom with beautiful willow flowers. the moon was high and the little willow sprites danced around me and our tree. i leaned back into one of the bigger branches as a few bunnies scurried past, they hid behind me as i sang to calm them, then looked for the scorce of their fright.
A young man walked through the forest
With his quiver and hunting bow
He heard a young girl singing
And followed the sound below
There he found the maiden
Who lives in the willow
He called to her as she listened
From a ring of toadstools red
"Come with me, my maiden
Come from thy willow bed"
She looked at him serenely
And only shook her head
i looked around then i saw a man with a quiver and sturdy bow. i shied away into my tree as he stared at me intently. he beckoned me to get out of the tree and i shook my head shying further. i gave him a pleading look to leave. i told him i couldnt, that i should never leave my tree.
"See me now
A ray of light in the moondance
See me now
I cannot leave this place
Hear me now
A strain of song in the forest
Don't ask me
To follow where you lead"
he didnt take no as an answer though, he asked repeatedly. he gave up after a while leaving with a promise of tomorrow. i giggled lightly though sadly. i wished i could leave, to see the neighboring citys and towns. i sighed and layed on my branch, slowly falling asleep. i woke up to the sound of chittering from the chipmonks. i yawned and stretched and looked to where they were pointing. he came again, with a beautiful buttercup.
A young man walked through the forest
With a flower and coat of green
His love had hair like fire
Her eyes an emerald sheen
She wrapped herself in beauty
So young and so serene
i giggled and accepted the flower he knelled before me asking for my hand, i shook my head and said again: i cant leave ever i am connected to this tree. it gave me life nor can i marry you near far or ever.
He stood there under the willow
And he gave her the yellow bloom
"Girl, my heart you've captured
Oh, I would be your groom"
She said she'd wed him never
Not near, nor far, nor soon
my tree is my life and i to it, i cant leave, i cant marry you, i cant go. he was fumed and marched off, i felt worried for my tree. i decided to make the brambles harsher and trees around thicker hoping the future storm wouldnt get here.
"See me now
A ray of light in the moondance
See me now
I cannot leave this place
Hear me now
A strain of song in the forest
Don't ask me
To follow where you lead"
i was playing with the little bunnies when he returned, pain shot up my side as he chopped down the brambles and trees to get here. i stood up and hid behind my tree, the willow branches covering me as i saw him come near with the evil object that hurt my cousins, he headed near the willow, frightened, i tried to protect my tree.
A young man walked through the forest
With an axe sharp as a knife
"I'll take the green-eyed fairy
And she shall be my wife
With her I'll raise my children
With her I'll live my life"
The maiden wept when she heard him
When he said he'd set her free
He took his axe and used it
To bring down her ancient tree
"Now your willow's fallen
Now you belong to me"
i jumped out infront of him, i told him to leave, that hes not allowed here anymore. he shoved me aside and began to chop my willow down. each hit made it harder for me to breath, my willow fell after a few hits, i sobed and told him to leave. he grabbed me and tore me from the tree, pulling me out of the clearing i was given life in. i begged him to let me go. i said i couldnt leave my tree, i couldnt leave my clearing. he didnt listen.
"See me now
A ray of light in the moondance
See me now
I cannot leave this place
Hear me now
A strain of song in the forest
Don't ask me
To follow where you lead"
he pulled me away from my birth place, my strength slowly fading. my i began to stumble and sway then collapsed. i tried to get up but i couldnt. i smiled and looked up "you cant take from the forest that was never ment to leave" still in my dying time i was kind. he didnt know, he was blinded, he was corrupted. i curled up as my body faded, a bright night flower bloomed in my remembrance. that was the night a first heard the forest weep.
She followed him out the forest
And collapsed upon the earth
Her feet had walked but a distance
From the green land of her birth
She faded into a flower
That would bloom for one bright eve
He could not take from the forest
What was never meant to leave
