After the main character has started to realize their feelings, it's up to you what you do with it. In the last chapter I mentioned:
1. Becoming determined
2. Becoming nervous
3. Running away1: If your character is the kind of person who looks at things head on, they may become determined to find their lover. For example:
I was in love with him.
The thought whirled around me, making me dizzy with no where to look. But I didn't know if he loved me back.
But I had to find out. I wanted my happily ever after, and nothing was going to stop me from getting it.
I called him and told him to meet me at the coffee shop, and there was something he needed to know.
After the character had proclaimed their love, you have a few options, but that's for that's for the next chapter.
2. If your character is shy, then this option is probably best for you. The character can start avoiding their love, until the lover usually tracks them down, wondering why they have been avoiding them. For example:
I've been dodging him at school all week. I don't know if he returns my feelings, and asking him is terrifying! What if he doesn't like me? What if he doesn't want to be friends anymore? What if he hates me?
I walk to class, before feeling a tap on my shoulder. I get pulled into the nearest empty classroom.
I turn around to see him.
"We need to talk. Why have you been avoiding me all week?"
"I...well...uh.." I stutter.
He takes a deep breath.
"I wanted to tell you I like you. I've liked you for a while, and I thought you liked me back, but now..."
I burst into tears. "I like you too. I was scared..."
He puts his finger to my lips.
If you want to sky character to become brave enough to profess their love, that works too.
3. If the character flees when things get tough, then you have some options. My favorite it to end the book and start the next book of the series, making an adventure in which the lover chases the main character across the globe. If you don't want another book, you can have a very short adventure. For example:
She's gone. But I loved her. Why would she leave me?
I have to find her. Maybe she's at the playground where we first met?
I drove to the playground, my heart in my throat. Just when I'm going to give up,
I see a flash of her red hair.I walk slowly over to her.
If your story has multiple point of views, then you could do half of the scene in one and half in the other. If not, make sure to put a lot of emphasis on the emotions in this scene. Next chapter, I will list the options on what to do after the love has been proclaimed.
