Beth's P.O.V.
"Mom, I'm home"
Closing the front door behind me, it's nice to finally be home. After I got out of school, I headed straight for the mall. And no, not to mindlessly shop for crap I don't need, but to see who was hiring. If I'm gonna be stuck in this humid hellhole for awhile, I might as well do something productive. I mean it's not like I need the money right now. I don't have a car anymore because we had to sell it before the move so I don't have to pay for gas now and I don't have a huge group of shopaholic friends to keep up with so I don't need it for random shopping trips; but I need to get a job. I need something to do, I can't sit in the house all day with nothing to do when I don't have school. That was my problem before I guess, but I intend to solve it a better way this time.
"Beth? Is that you?"
"No mom, I'm just a robber with keys to the front door."
Mom just starts laughing as she comes through the kitchen door into the family room. "No need to be smart with me, maybe I thought it was your father."
I join in the laughing, "Definitely, 'cause dad is always home buy 2:30 in the afternoon."
Mom just slaps me on the back and keeps laughing before going back into the kitchen. Probably still unpacking. We honesty have way too many dishes.
Heading upstairs to do homework; I hear her shout, "Dad will be home at six, we're gonna get dinner when he gets home. Be down and ready!"
"Ok!" I shout back.
Making my way to my room, I past my brother playing Mario Kart on his wii in his room and I let him know to be downstairs by six. He just mumbles a yes and continues playing.
Throwing the door to my room open I don't waste any time catapulting myself onto my nice, comfy bed. The clock says 2:30, a little cat nap won't hurt anything. I'll just rest my eyes for a bit.
Bzzz. Bzzz. Bzzz. Bzzz.
What the? I didn't set an alarm. Ugh, why did I leave my phone on my desk? Why didn't I just set it on the table next to my bed? Now I have to get up, ugh. Grabbing my phone to snooze my alarm, I realize it's not an alarm, but a text from Izzy.
Izzy: hey, u busy 2night??
Beth: um i think dinner with my fam, y?
Izzy: we're going 2 Carlo's, it's the best pizza place in town + there's an arcade. u think u can come? u can ride w us.
Beth: i can ask... who's we?
Izzy: me, ty, michael, and liam...
Beth: ewwwww D:
Izzy: c'mon pleaseeee : ///
Beth: ugh fine, i'll ask...if ur jerk brother is an idiot tho imma hit him.
Izzy: lol ok deal XD
Beth: brb gonna ask...when u going?
Izzy: like half an hour.
Crap it's already 5:00. I slept awhile. Liam is an idiot, but it's evil to leave Izzy alone with a bunch of flirting morons. Ew i even hate his name. I'm officially changing it to jerk. When I get to the living room I see my mom sitting on the couch watching Say Yes to the Dress with boxes still not unpacked in the kitchen.
"Gave up, huh?"
"I was gonna keep packing, but then our show came on soooo." Me and mom used to watch
reruns of this and What not to Wear every night when I was like twelve.
"Can I join?"
"Of course, honey." Patting the seat next to her, "The bride brought her fiancé, like doesn't she know that is soooo against tradition." Laughing I snuggle up next to her. I miss days like this.
"So mom, I was wondering."
"What do you want?"
"So, um, I made a friend."
"That's good."
"Her name's Izzy, well Isabelle, and she's really nice. And well she's going to this place called Carlo's with her brother and friends. It's a pizza place and arcade. Apparently it's the best pizza in town, she invited me to go. Can I, please? They can pick me up, and I promise I'll be home by ten." With that I hold my breath and my mom looks like she's actually thinking about it.
"I don't know, honey, are you sure that's a good idea after what happened last time?"
"I promise, I'll stay safe, and I'll be home on time. I won't ever be alone, and if I at all feel unsafe I'll call you."
"If anything seems fishy you call me right away, understand?" Wait, is that a yes? That was easier then I thought.
"So I can go? Really?!"
With a sigh she answers, "Yes, but this doesn't mean every time I'm going to say yes, got it?"
Hugging her, "Yes, yes, yes I promise. Thank you mommy, so so much."
She just laughs, "Sweetie, you're squeezing me to death."
I can't help but laugh too, "Oops," jumping up I head towards my room, "I gotta go change, I'm a mess from napping, I love youuu."
Beth: i can go!!!!
Izzy: YAYAYAYA!!
Izzy: we just picked up ty and michael, what's ur adress and we'll come get u.
Beth: 1374 apple lane
Izzy: YOOOO, WE LITERALLY ARE IN THE SAME NEIGHBORHOOD, I LIVE LIKE 5 HOUSES DOWN WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!
Beth: LITTT LOL
Beth: haha i gotta change txt me when ur here.
I can't believe Izzy lives in my neighborhood, ha who would've guessed. Crap, that means the jerk lives close to me, ew.
I decide to change my ripped jeans out for a pair of black jean shorts and a pink and white striped tank top. I took my braid out so my hair is even wavier then my naturally curly hair is, and I took all my make up off. As I'm slipping on my favorite pair of black sandals I hear my phone buzz.
Izzy: here
Beth: coming
Racing downstairs I give my mom a hug, "Love you, thank you so much!
As I close the front door I hear "Home by ten." from my mom and run smack into my dad's chest.
"Where do you think you're going young lady?"
"Dinner with my friend Izzy." I can't help but feel nervous, "Mom said it was ok, I'll be home by ten."
I was surprised with a quick hug, "Be safe, I love you, angel baby." My dad has called me that since I was little, old habits never die I guess.
"I will, love you." A quick kiss on the cheek and I'm headed straight towards the red convertible jeep parked outside my house.
It's a beautiful car, I absolutely love jeeps. If only there wasn't a jerk scowling at me from the driver's seat. Scooting into the back next to Tyler and Michael, I get an enthusiastic hi from Izzy.
"So I guess I can rule out daddy issues for your reason for moving." Of course, yucky Liam has to talk.
I just slump back in my seat and stare out the window, ugh this is gonna be a long four hours.
