~Chapter Three~
I pull my two friends so that they'd walk faster to our classroom. I quicken my steps, and I don't look back at where we were just a few seconds ago. With a frown on my face, I adjust the strap of my bag as I enter the classroom.
"What's with the hurry?" Gabriela asks as she takes a seat behind me.
I drop my bag on the table with a loud thud as I answer, "Nothing."
"If you call avoiding mystery guy, nothing," Lana says with a raised eyebrow, "Then, it was certainly nothing."
I pull out the chair and don't say another word. Ever since the phone call this morning, I've been avoiding him, and every time I see him, I find myself frowning. Maybe it's because I don't know his name. Well, that and also the fact that he always calls me Victoria. I mean, my name is Ria; not Victoria.
"If you really are avoiding him, it would probably be nice if I tell you he just came inside the classroom," Gabriela says.
I frown again, not caring if it gives me wrinkles at a young age. I pull out a book and glue my eyes to the words on it. Unfortunately for me, I heard that he's in all of my classes.
I hope if I just remain seated and quiet, he won't notice, but boy, I'm wrong, because a deep voice shouts, "Victoria!"
I don't turn around. Instead, I flip to the next page as if I can't hear him. Tomorrow, I'm going to bring earphones so that I have a more valid excuse to ignore him.
"She's here and she's annoyed at you, Mr. Stranger," Lana drawls, and I look up to scowl at her.
Loud footsteps echo across the room, and my classmates stop chatting just long enough to stare at the newcomer. Great, I'm sure I'm going to be dragged into being part of the gossip again.
"Missed me?" He says as he stops in front of my table.
I cross my arms as I say, "No. I'm never going to miss you."
He places a hand on his chest and says, "Ouch, that hurts, Princess."
"I think I prefer it if you call me Victoria," I say as I feel my cheeks heat up because of my classmates' stares.
"Whatever you say, Victoria," he winks at me, but before I can snap at him, the door opens at the teacher comes in.
The clicking of her shoes on the polished wooden floor echoes across the room, and she stops in front of the whiteboard. I wince at the squeaking sound that the marker makes as she writes on the whiteboard, and I flip open my book to the page she told us.
I hope that the teacher would call him so I can find out his name. Sadly, she doesn't. She just goes on with her lesson, and I find myself yawning.
She drones on and on about things I would probably care about if I can understand it. I pinch my arm to keep myself awake, and I look at everything except the dreaded whiteboard.
I look at the back part of the classroom, and my eyes settle on him. My eyes widen when I look at him. I expect him to be like me, but he's the complete opposite. Whereas History makes me want to take a nap, he's sitting perfectly straight on his chair and is carefully taking notes.
His eyes are focused on the whiteboard, but after a while, it drifts to me. I duck my head and pretend to be paying great attention to the blank page of my notebook, but I can feel his gaze on me.
I feel so stupid by looking at him like that. Sure, he annoys me to death, but I can't help but be intrigued by him. Besides, who wouldn't be?
If he hadn't showed up in school, I probably would have forgotten him. He's now in the same class as me, and I find that strange, because it's hard to get into this school in the middle of the school year.
A ringing sound interrupts my thoughts, and I smile when I realize it's the sign that this period is finished. After a quick look at the whiteboard, I let out a groan as I make a quick note in my head to ask Lana for help in studying for the test.
I grab my book and notebook, and arrange them as neatly as I can inside my bag. But before I can leave this dreaded classroom, a tall figure stops beside my desk.
I don't stop to look at him. I push him away, and he barely budges as I say, "Excuse me, you're in the way."
"Wait," he says and grabs my arm before I can walk away.
I try to wriggle out of his grip, but he's too strong for me. With a sigh, I say, "What do you want?"
"I want us to talk." I look up, and see that the serious expression he donned while the teacher was here is gone. In its place is the usual cocky smirk I've seen more than once today.
I purse my lips and say, "I don't want to."
His eyes twinkle in mischief, and his smirk grows bigger as he says, "Who said you had a choice?"
"I always have a choice."
I know that my classmates are staring, because, let's face it, even if most of them are filthy rich, they still are suckers for gossip.
He leans on the table as he says, "Not this time."
I sigh because I know I lost this battle. "What do you want to talk about?"
He doesn't say anything at first. His grip on my wrist loosens, and he throws an arm over my shoulders. I push it off, but he doesn't seem to mind because he just smirks at me as he says, "Anything."
I roll my eyes at his comment, and I start to walk away. This time, he doesn't stop me.
I'm almost out of the classroom, but when I reach the door, a voice says, "You know what, Victoria?"
I know he won't stop until I talk to him so I snap, "What?"
I turn around, and I blink when I realize he's just behind me. In fact, he's close enough for me to take a whiff of his perfume. He winks at me, and a confident smile makes its way on his lips. As he leans closer to me, my eyes lock with his blue orbs, and his lips brush near my ear. Seconds pass before I hear him whisper words I never thought he'd say to me.
"My name's Noah."
*************************
He finally introduced himself! What are your thoughts on his introduction? Is he annoying you or do you like him?
Please wait for the edited Chapter One and Chapter Two. I decided to make a major change: Ria currently has no boyfriend. Dallas is not in the story anymore. Instead, I decided to let Ria have an older brother, and that brother's name is William, nicknamed Liam.
I'm really sorry for the confusion, but the change is necessary. I just realized that if Dallas is there, there will be plot holes. A lot of them. But don't worry, I already have the story mapped out.
P.S. If you're wondering, my username was previously ExoticDarkEyes5; I just changed it to alwaysmyself_
This story was previously called The Story of Us, but now its title is Just The Girl.
