~Chapter Five: Part Two~
I never should've agreed to this.
The dinner has barely started, but I already regret coming. How could I not when Noah is just across me?
Breathe, Ria, I tell myself. I guess I'm overacting, but that's in my personality. You can't really sue me for that.
Noah doesn't look surprised that I'm here. It's probably because someone told him who he'll be having dinner with. Okay, Liam did tell me, but I had no idea that Noah is a DiMarzo.
"So, Noah," my mom says, "how's your new school?"
He doesn't look at Mom as he answers. Instead, his lips curl into that mischievous smile he always has on, and he keeps his eyes on me. "It's great, Mrs. Remington. Someone's going to interview me for the school paper."
"Really?" Mom says, and I act nonchalant as I drink my juice. I can act, and that's useful in times like this. I can only hope that he doesn't know that I'm the interviewer, but judging from the sly smile on his face, that's a rare possibility.
Dad opens his mouth to speak, and I force myself to act calm. My parents know that I'm part of the school paper, and if they say that out loud, I'm sure they'll ask who's going to interview him.
"Ria's part of the school paper," Dad says, and I cut the meat on my plate with my knife. I'm not a violent person, but I wonder what will happen if I use this knife on someone. "Maybe she knows who's going to interview you. Do you know, honey?"
Noah's smirk is still on his face, and I know he knows it's me. I say, "I'm sure Camille chose someone nice to interview him."
That technically isn't a lie, right? I let my lips curl into the most innocent smile I have, but it turns into a frown when Noah says, "I talked to Camille the other day. She said she told you that you're going to interview me."
I swallow before I say, "Yeah." This is bad. Now my parents are going to be pressuring me to finish the interview as soon as possible. Still, I'm hoping I can still procrastinate.
"Cool! I'm sure Noah loves it that you'll be the interviewer." Alessa is almost jumping up and down in her chair as she says this, and I marvel at how different the twins are from each other because all Katerina does is give me a smile. I smile back, but I can't help but think about her words. What does she mean by that?
Mrs. DiMarzo also smiles, and her enthusiasm almost rubs off on me. Almost. "How about you interview Noah tomorrow after school, dear?"
I know I said that I'm a great actress, but that catches me off-guard. I almost spit out the juice I'm drinking. Before I can say anything, Mr. DiMarzo says, "Yes, Ria. You can interview him at our house. I'm sure your editor would want it as soon as possible."
Well, he's right. Camille wants interviews and articles to be passed to her as soon as possible. I'm losing this battle, but I can't give up. "I don't really think I can do that, sir. I don't know where your house is."
Liam smiles, and I swear they're ganging up on me. "I know where it is. I can drive you there, if you have no ride."
My dad gives me an expectant look, and I know it's official. I lost. With a weak voice, I say, "Tomorrow after class?"
"Whatever you say, Victoria."
*****
My former chapter five was pretty short, so I decided to make this very short chapter part two. What do you guys think? I'm sure everyone knows who said the last line. Anyway, Ria's going to Noah's house next chapter!
^_^ By the way, this story has already more than a hundred reads, and thank you for that. Thanks for the votes and comments, too!
Once again: please vote and comment! It would make me happy. :D
