Alexa POV
I was in better spirits when the bus arrived at the airport. Excited to start my journey, I quickly checked in and got in line to board, not paying much attention to the few people bustling around me.
When we got onto the plane, I was pretty surprised at how small it was, only around twenty seats in total. But maybe it was because we were in the middle of nowhere.
I was seated between this cute four year old boy on the window side to my right and his mother on my left. Seeing them separated, even by a seat, I was instantly depressed again and offered to switch seats with the boy. I know I was being melodramatic, but I couldn't help it.
After I got readjusted, I pulled out my phone and examined myself. I was a mess. My eyes were puffy from crying and my mouth was etched in a scowl. The one thing I wanted to do was sleep so I didn't have to deal with anything.
Even though I had the window seat, there were too many things on my mind for me to fall asleep. It felt like I was trapped in a giant cage. Literal as in the plane full of people but also figuratively, a cage of my thoughts, emotions, and inner turmoil.
As soon as we took off, my head began to spin and my stomach suddenly felt nauseous. Was it motion sickness? But I've never gotten carsick before so planes must just hate me. I grabbed the nearest flight attendant for help, freaking out for a good 5 minutes before she finally calmed me down.
God it was embarrassing. Even the four year old had more composure than me. To make matters worse, halfway through the flight I felt something, this sinking, awful feeling in my stomach. I instantly froze, crying internally. My period had arrived. Great.
Side note, why does this always happen to me????
You better not stain the seat, I warned as I got up to go put a pad on, subtly looked down in apprehension as I made my way out.
THANK THE LORD WE'RE IN THE CLEAR. CRISES AVERTED.
After dealing with my... bloody situation, and sitting back down, I searched my backpack for some ibuprofen, since there was an intense battle going on in my uterus called World War III.
But like an idiot, I had forgotten to pack my pain relief meds. Well.... no pain no gain right? It's just that I'd rather avoid the pain part and say no thanks to the gain.
To distract myself from the knives stabbing into— pain, I ended up reading a story saved on my phone from Wattpad and snacking on a Granola bar. I must have fallen asleep, because the next thing I knew, the boy was grabbing my arm and happily exclaiming we had arrived. Finally.
My belt was off before the engines stopped. I collected my stuff and shoved it all into my backpack, getting off the plane in a hurry. I needed to find a bathroom to freshen up, collect my suitcase, and then get started on my transformation into Alex.
