Chapter Two

"Outside of the Gates"

> Nicole <

I headed back to my dorm. Today I was actually gonna catch a pokèmon. The last few days I have just been training.

It took me about three minutes to get to my dorm. I thought to myself 'I should really get a flying pokèmon. It would make everything a whole lot faster. Especially tomorrow when we start our journey.

I snapped out of my thoughts and grabbed three pokèballs. I looked at my clock. It read 10:50 a.m. The gates were either open already or just opened. I ran out of my dorm. I guess I left the door open because I was half way down the hall and I heard the door close. I looked back and Ruby had closed the door for me. She's such a good girl.

"Remember, we need to meet Jackson at the river," I told her as she was running to catch up.

"E. Eevee," she said. I took that as a 'I know'.

"Remind me next time, to keep track of time. And not to do a two on two battle. Ok?" I said looking down at Ruby. The little evolution pokèmon nodded.

We were through the gates in less than three minutes. I had to stop at the gates, so they could check my trainer card. so they knew I was able to go through the gates. I started walking toward the river.

When I got close to the river. I slowed down to see if I could sneak up on Jackson. 'Yes' I said in my head. There he was sitting on a big rock with his back to me. Here was my time to scare him.

I slowly walked over. I got behind him and yelled "BOO!" It went well but a little too well. I did scare him but I scare enough that he fell off of the rock.

"Oops," I said holding out my hand to help him up. And what he did was he yanked my hand. I fell next to him missing him by a few inches.

"Ouch," I said hitting my forehead on the ground. I turn and lied on my back. I held my forehead where it hit the ground. Next to me something moved. It was Jackson. He sat up.

"I am so sorry," Jackson said moving my hand to see. It wasn't bleeding and thank Arceus it didn't bruise. Then what happened next was amazing. He kissed his finger and touched the spot where I hit my head.

"Feel better?" he asked noticing that I was smiling.

"Yes," I said trying to stop smiling. He stood up and held out his hand. I took it and he helped me up.

"Now where?" Jackson asked looking at me. I looked at my watch. It read 11:05 a.m.

"I don't know, the gates have been open for 15 minutes."

"True, do you want to train or capture pokèmon?"

"Since we battled earlier, let's go get a new team member," I replied.

"Ok, that's what I was thinking but I thought I better ask you. What I was thinking was we need to get a flying pokèmon. That can evolve into something big enough to carry each of us. So if we are ever in trouble, we can get out of there faster."

"I was think the same thing but not exactly the same."

We headed into the woods looking for any pokèmon that could possibly hold one of us. We came across some Spearow but that's not what we wanted. So we let it be. Finally we came across a Pidgey.

"Do you what it?" Jackson asked me. I replied "Umm... No you can have it."

" If you say so, Blaze use ember on Pidgey." he said. The ember was very effective. Jackson captured the Pidgey and said "Now we just need to get you one."

"Ok, we need to start heading back then." he replied. We started to walk back toward the gates. We were walking beside each other.

"Tomorrow, we go to Aquacorde Town, right?" Jackson asked.

"Yep, I mean if that's the next town," I replied. And ran ahead.

When I got to the gates. They were closed. I pushed on the gates. It didn't budge.

"Umm. We have a major problem," I called back to Jackson, who was just coming out of the woods.

"Oh great. We're locked out," he said.

I looked at with a scared look. "What are we gonna do? It's starting to get cold."

"I don't know. We were looking all day for that Pidgey." he said looking down at the ground.

He was right we were looking for that Pidgey all day and we had lost track of time. And we were now locked poo it we would have to wait until tomorrow to pack our stuff. We both sat down where we were standing. I was leaning on the gate and Jackson was leaning on a tree.

"Do we have anything to eat?" I asked because I didn't bring my back pack.

" I have some in my back pack but it's not a lot," he said as he took off his backpack and was looking in it. " I found a few cans of pokè-chow and two sandwiches," Jackson stated.

"Ok, I think we should save them until we absolutely need it," I replied.

It was silent for awhile. Well except the occasional wild pokèmon. The sun went down and the moon came out. It was a full moon tonight.

Are you getting cold?" Jackson asked. He sent his Charmeleon to go get some stocks for a fire.

"Just a little bit." I answered.

Charmeleon came back with some sticks. Jackson and his pokèmon made a fire. The wind picked up and blew the fire out. I shivered, the wind was very cold.

Jackson noticed, "come over here," and patted the spot next to him. I got up and sat next to him.

Jackson took off his jacket and put it around my shoulders. "Aren't you cold?" I asked him. He shook and head no.

"Ok." I leaned against him with my head on his shoulder. It was about 8:30 p.m. It was getting late.

"How about you go to sleep and I'll keep watch for a little bit," Jackson said.

"Ok." I said yawning. And after that I fell asleep.

-10 to 11 hours later-

I woke up and I forgot where I was. I looked around and remembered that we were locked out. Jackson was asleep. I woke Jackson up. Jackson got the sandwiches from his backpack. We ate the sandwiches.

I stood up and walked over to the gate. I pushed the gate it was still locked. I walked back over to Jackson and told him the news.

He walked over there and I guess he saw someone.
