i sat down at a table with my tea and danish from cup o' joe, the coffee shop a few blocks away from my house. there wasn't anyone here, particularly because the place just opened. i pulled out my phone, and saw that i had a bunch of messages from my dad wondering where the fuck i was at 8 am on a sunday morning. after texting him back that i was at the coffee house and that i was fine, i pulled up the web browser.
i thought the most productive thing to do would be finding methods of stopping bullying, so that's what i did. however, ya know when the bell hanging over the door rings and you just automatically look over? well, i was distracted from my work to see none other than mack herself.
"mack?" i blurted out like an idiot. great job, will.
"will!" she exclaimed. "i was hoping to see you again."
jesus, this is the most cliche thing that has ever happened to me, i thought as she took a seat across from me.
"guess we had the same idea," i said, putting my phone down. "i don't suppose you've been walking around in the rain as well?"
she smiled, "no, actually." she took her rain jacket off. "but i did have to walk the four blocks here, if that counts."
she got herself a drink, and we continued to talk. about ourselves, just getting to know each other. i learned she is 17, like me, and we're both seniors in high school. she goes to spring city high, and she has lived in wakulla springs all her life. she has a jack russell terrier named hazel, who, from her description, i feel would get along very well with my corgi rudy. we both love funny movies, and we are all for sitting out in the rain. she has a brother called daniel, and a sister called lauren.
"we should do this more often," she says.
"what," i reply, trying to think of a witty remark, but i can't come up with one. "hang out more?"
"no, drink coffee," she laughs. "of course hang out more." i smiled. it's not everyday you can get a cute girl to like you, especially if you're homeschooled.
"it's still raining pretty bad, do you maybe wanna come over to my place and watch a movie with me?" i asked, maybe a little too desperate.
"sure, that sounds like fun," she replied getting her stuff together. "let's get outta here." we walked out of the door, getting some particularly dirty looks from the staff.
