The year is 1925. In an interview room, an Asian teenager wearing a mimetic jumpsuit, spiked gloves and a military satchel, with straight, dark red hair that went down to his shoulders and bright brown eyes can be seen. His name was Saka Jiro.
Sitting across from him is a reporter, holding a notepad and a pen.
"So, start from the beginning, Mr. Jiro. This isn't just going into the papers, it's going into the history books," Said the reporter.
The teen sighed, then said, "I thought you'd already known...I mean, you've lived through this ordeal...all right...
"Back in 1900, a rip in space-time occurred...some sort of winged superbeings emerged from it, and ended up taking control of most areas of the planet..."
"Most?" Asked the reporter, who was writing down as much as he could as fast as possible. "The people of the future need to know what you mean..."
"Right, what I mean is that while a good chunk of humans and hybrids were captured and enslaved by those...things...some of us were able to establish a base underground. Sometimes, in order to survive, we have to go above ground, and steal food from the enslaved people's stands...I wish we didn't have to do that...
"Now, flash forward to 1925, a few days ago..."
As he explains, he also has a flashback.
Saka can be seen running from the winged beings above ground. He grabbed a smoke bomb from the satchel, and ran to the nearest hidden entrance to his underground base.
After making it down, he walked to a lab that was across from where he climbed down. He opened the door, and walked up to the one scientist in there; an anthropomorphic panda hybrid with cyan eyes, wearing a white lab coat, grey gloves and boots, and a pair of round goggles, who was working on what looked like a backpack.
"Hey, Dr. Xeph," Said Saka.
The scientist jumped a bit, but then turned around at the teen. He looked visibly annoyed.
"What did I tell you about coming in without radioing our special channel?!" Snapped Dr. Xeph.
"Doctor, do you have anything that can at least give us a small edge on against these...creatures?" Asked Saka anxiously.
The scientist sighed, then said, "Well, you see, I just finished converting an old backpack into something more useful..." He grabbed the backpack looking item, it had rocket jets on both the left and right side of it.
"So, you mean to tell me you made a jetpack?" Asked Saka doubtfully.
Dr. Xeph nodded, then handed the teen the pack, who put it on.
"Now, it only has an on and off button, which can be found on the right strap. In order to go up, lean up, down is lean down, left is left, right is right."
Saka tilted his head a bit, but, after a second, his mannerisms told the scientist that he understood what he was told.
"Got it. Uh...any weapons?" Asked Saka.
"We only have one..." Said Dr. Xeph, grabbing a hilt from the same table as the jetpack. "The Electro-Sword is all repaired, but, it can only handle a couple of those creatures at a time..."
Saka grabbed the hilt, and put it into his satchel, then he gave the scientist a small smile and a quick hug, making the said scientist feel a bit uncomfortable.
"Thanks, Xeph. I really appreciate the work you do. Next time you hear from me, Hoverbase 1 will be ours!" Said Saka, walking out of the lab.
Once the lab door closed, Xeph sighed, and then mumbled to himself, "I hope he can make it..."
Saka was walking up the ladder back to the upper level he ran from minutes ago. Once he reached land, he climbed up, looked around, activated the jetpack, and leaned up.
He started flying upward and manoeuvring around until he got close to the hoverbase he was after.
Minutes later, he was flying over the base, leaned down, and landed quietly on the metal floor.
He then grabbed the hilt, activated it, and ran up to two guards, who spotted him immediately, slicing two of them in half.
"Huh, that was a bit too...easy..." Said Saka, heading for a metal door in front of him. He then realised that it required a hand print of one of those creatures he just killed.
He grabbed one of the now deceased guards, lifted the top half of the body, and placed his left arm onto to scanner. The door then opened.
Saka dropped the top half of the guard, then walked through the door.
"Whoever is the leader, show yourself!" Yelled Saka aggressively. "You may have a lot of our technology, but, we have at least one article of yours as well! You want it? Come and get it!"
He stood still in the metal hallway, waiting for another one of the creatures to come after him. No creatures arrived, so he then continued walking until he came across another door with text of a language he couldn't read.
"Looks like I might have to improvise this..." Said Saka, piercing the metal door with his Electro-Sword, gradually creating a growing hole.
Once the hole was about his size, he walked through it slowly, then came across the biggest version one of those creatures he had ever seen.
It was 15 feet tall, but, lacked the wings that a majority of its species had. It had deep red eyes, and a set of curvy horns that looked like the tusks on an elephant. This creature was staring at Saka, who at 5,7, was immediately intimidated.
"I see you made your way up here without an issue..." Said the creature in a deep voice. His accent was that of an English dialect, and his spoken English was perfect.
"Uh...y...yeah..." Said Saka, his voice and body trembling with fear.
The creature looked bored, and then said dully, "You're too puny. You'll never take back this plan..."
Saka threw the Electro-Sword impulsively, still fear ridden, piercing the towering creature's heart.
The creature tried to speak, but, the pain was too much. As more of the creatures ran towards the room where Saka was, they were immediately sliced as well. One by one.
Once Saka was sure there was none left, he grabbed a radio from his satchel.
Back to the interview centre, Saka was now looking the reporter straight in the eye.
"And here we are," Said Saka in a matter of fact way.
"So, is it the end?" Asked the reporter.
"Well, yes and no. The battle, as a matter of fact, is over. But, the war, has yet to end. We will continue fighting. After that fight, however, Dr. Xeph has also developed some new gadgets from some of the tech we recovered. Just know, though, we have a long way to go," Said Saka, about to get up.
The reporter stood up, and held out his hand, to which Saka shook.
"Thank you for the story, Saka," Said the reporter.
Saka nodded his head, then walked out of the interview room. He needed some rest. He needed to see Xeph in the morning after all.
