The Daydream

I went in there again. I looked at the sign, which said "BROADWAY MAZE." It looked exciting; I carried on walking. The gates shut hard and the clouds went dark. I felt scared. There were thorn bushes on the sides: I didn't want to step into them so I watched my way. There was a male figure standing upside down, a horse that was trotting on two feet, dogs that hissed, rapid turtles and giraffes with no necks. I carried on walking. Suddenly, my body clogged. I felt a buzz from A travelling to B.

I stumbled forwards, while seeing a glimpse: Big Ben said, "Tick tock tick tock."

"Ha, ha, ha!" laughed the bushes.

"Oo, another one," said the tree.

I was thinking what the tree meant by another one.

I stood in one place then my feet automatically took me ahead. It felt terrific, this place was abnormal; I couldn't see a way out. As I wondered on, I saw an old, frail man croaking, "Don't go, don't go for you may never see this entrance again!"

As i turn, I catch a glimpse of the old man, his wave, a solitary tear trickles down his face, and then he's gone. My feet carry me into a dark waste land, they don't stop to turn back. I had never noticed how quick, how quick they could be when they wanted. It was like walking in the shoes of a professional ballet dancer. Suddenly, i jolt to a stop, falling head over heels with a force. I glance around again, in hope of an alternative way out, but i see nothing, no-one, apart from an array of grotesque beasts. The giraffe, and the dogs, they are still here, but there are new creatures as well. A rabid wolf, frothing at the mouth, a mangy fox, though no disease seems to hold him back. They advance, though i cannot run. But if I could, where would i hide? Nothing offers any protection, or cover from these hideous quadrupeds.

" Ha ha," the fox cackles, "You are trapped now, nothing to save you."

"A little confused?" taunts the Giraffe.

I didn't answer. There was an enormous thump.

"Wake up," said mum. "You've been gazing there for a long time."

I shook my head left and right and blinked.

It was just a daydream.
