Heartbreak

"WHAT?! WHAT HAPPENED?!" He yelled "nothing happened." I said shrugging "WELL SOMETHING OR y SOMEONE OBVIOUSLY HAPPENED!" He shouted at the top of his lungs "i-i didn't talk to him. H-he s-spoke to E-Eponia," she stammered "it's true," I said "AH! ENOUGH OF THIS!" Said Laurens storming out of the tent. "What just happened?" I asked "I-I'm r-r-really sorry e-everyone," she said a small sob escaping her. "You shouldn't have done what you did!" Snapped Hercules "SHE DID NOTHING!" I shouted standing up "you heard the girl." Hissed Alexander "what really happened?" Asked Lafayette "a few words were exchanged and that was it!" I said, I bit my lip because I didn't want to start shooting out insults. Hazel had rolled over and started to quietly cry "Hazel. You did nothing wrong. Laurens is just being sensitive," I said "I'm not being sensitive," he hissed "why are you back here?!" I snapped "I live here too," "I've noticed!" "Ehem, can we have some privacy to get ready?" I asked "oui of course," said Laf leaving the tent "yeah." Said Alexander and Hercules, getting up and leaving "Laurens," "ok,"
We got ready quickly and left the tent. Hazel's face was red and blotchy from crying "Hazel," "I don't wanna talk about it," she said sadly stalking off to see Ash, her horse. I followed her to see Velvet "Hazel," "it's all because of.. Ahh that coward Lee!" She hissed "hey don't blame me!" He said with a hint of guilt in his voice, walking past. I got thinking, it was almost like Hazel could hear the cogs turning in my head "what's wrong?" She asked "why did Lee just sounded like he showed remorse? He never sounds like that! Why is he being all of a sudden nice?" I said "he might want us to give away secrets? After all he hates our clique," "but then why would he befriend us instead of Hercules of Lafayette?" "Because we're both the youngest in the clique. Laf and Hercules are doggedly loyal to Alexander. He is talking to us so he can be a general again! We are sorta new here so that's why!" I said excitedly "Laurens!" I said as he walked past "What do you want?! Came crawling back?" He hissed to Hazel "Hazel I did nothing wrong. Your being sensitive, but since you don't want to know what we just figured out, it's fine," I hissed my tone cold "yeah your right I don't," he snarled "your certainly friendly today," I murmured under my voice "what was that?" "You said you don't want to know!" I snapped back. He growled and walked away sulking. I heard Hazel sobbing again. "I'll talk to him once the dust has settled," I reassured her "you would do that?" "Of course! That's what best friends are for!" I said "thanks. Your a good friend," she sighed. we saddled up our horses and went to see if the Reds had come back. "WAIT UP!" Said a voice from behind. It was Charles Lee. Oh no. "Yes Lee?" I sighed "why do you blame me?" He asked innocently "I want answers. The day I arrived here you had it in for my clique, why are you suddenly so nice?" "I dunno, guess I have no one to talk to now," he shrugged "what about your friends," "hate me after I retreated," he sighed "er... Lee." "Hazel," I said asking for permission to tell. She nodded sadly "Hazel said about you being nice. And Laurens flipped." "Why?" "I don't know." I sighed "oh Hazel I'm so sorry!" He said. I new that tone was fake, that's what he wanted! He was going to break up our clique one by one, first Laurens and Hazel then Hercules Laf and Alexander! "I wish I had known. I just wanted to see if you were awake!" He said faking a sympathetic look. The son of a gun! "We need to get back. I have something to talk to Alexander about," I said to Charles Lee. We parted ways "oh Laurens will hear about this!" I hissed to myself "what?" "You'll see!" I said angrily glancing back. "That's son of a gun is up to something," I hissed

TIME SKIP-  2 nights

I woke up to see Laurens heading outside. It was pretty late at night and the last few days he had been pretty cold and prickly towards poor Hazel. I decided to follow him to see what he was up to. I stalked out unnoticed behind him, he walked all the way to a lake, then he just stood there, eyes fixed on the waters edge just not caring about anything. "L-Laurens?" I said cautiously "what are you doing here?! Spying?" he hissed "no I'm not spying. I'm just... I wanted to talk to you," "yeah right," he snorted "Laurens. You need to stop this. Hazel has been breaking down over nothing, she can barely look at you! Charles Lee! It's him he's up to something! We met him while me and Hazel were patrolling for the red coats! He was so fake sympathetic about Hazel and stuff he wants to turn us against eachother! Can't you see it?! And also, what about when you got yourself drunk?! Huh? If she didn't want anything to do with you she wouldn't have helped you back or looked after you when you were being sick!" "I could say the same for you and Laf!" "HEY!" I shouted "just friends. That's what friends are for," "then me and Hazel will be friends!" He declared "UGHHH! You know what?! This was a waste of time! Your pathetic!" I hissed walking away "wait!" He called "huh?" "What really happened?" He asked "you wanna know?" "yes," "well, Hazel needed to go, I waited for her. While I was waiting Charles Lee came to say hi," I explained the whole thing word for word. "I've made a big mistake," he murmured once I finished talking. before heading back.

Smol time skip.

I woke up pretty late and got ready then went to the stables to tend to my horse. "Hey Eponia!" Said Hazel happily "what are you so happy about?" I said giving her a playful punch "you spoke to Laurens and we're... Well what we were before Charles Lee came!" "That's great to hear!"
