A New World

Chapter 3

The sun was starting to go down shortly after my speech. All who was with us were Ryan, Noah, Emma, Charlotte, Kaleb, Weston, and Bella. We all went inside Charlotte's house to figure out who stays where.
"I guess I will get first watch." Emma said
"Are you sure I can get first if you want Emma." Ryan stated.
"Noah it's fine. I can barely sleep anyway." Stated Emma.
Emma went upstairs opened the window and sat on the roof watching below. I tried going to sleep but all I could think of is the picture of Lawson in my head. He was one of my friends and I lost him. That's something you never forget. I look at the clock hanging just above my door and it was 2:00 AM. "Ugh I can't freaking go to sleep." I started banging my head on the pillow, bug I was still wide awake. I got up and opened the window to the roof where Emma was.
"Holy crap I almost punched you. You scared me to death!" Emma stated in fear.
"I'm sorry I was just hear to check and see what was happening and I can't even sleep."
"I'm okay, nothing has happened yet. And what time is it?" Emma questioned.
"2:00." I crawled through the window and sat on the roof. I could feel the cold breeze coming in.
"Why does this have to happen. I just don't get it." Emma questioned.
"I wish I had an answer. To be honest I'm pretty terrified myself. Who wouldn't be terrified with those monsters lurking around everywhere. I don't have anything to fight for. Why do we not just kill our selves so we won't be tormented by this evil."
"Cooper, don't talk like that we can still survive. You said it yourself last night that we just have to survive." Emma said passionately.
"Do you have anything to fight for?" As soon as I made my comment it was like she knew I was going to ask.
"Yes Cooper is do. I'm fighting for Ryan. And everyone else here." Emma stated
"Wait you and Ryan are a thing? Like in my book. That's weird." I said with a smile.
"You have something to fight for too. You have all of us. We aren't friends anymore. We are family."
