Lucy's P.O.V.

Immediately after walking into the building very dramatically (we are always dramatic), the Kiwi Squad (yes, kiwi squad is what we call our squad) rushed up to the third floor so we could go to our lockers. We all have separate lockers, but luckily they're all in the same hallway. Well, everyone in the grade's lockers are in the same hallway. Our class (38 students) is so small, that only a few of us have to have a locker partner. The people who assigned the lockers had the boys be the first people who had to have a locker partner because they don't care about how their locker looks, as long as their backpacks fit in there, they're fine.

On the other hand, girls are completely different!! They have to have their locker carpet, locker chandelier, photos of their boyfriends and #besties, their Starbucks gift cards, and their sparkly emoji binders and folders that are only for decoration and a waste of 39 dollars. Casey, Emma and I are not like that. We are kind of in the middle of the two genders and their locker décor. We make sure everything fits, then we decorate with minimal things.

Anyway, me and Casey's lockers are about 8 away from each other. And Emma is on the opposite side of the hallway, sadly. But Emma is right next to Alex Sanford, a boy who has liked her since the beginning of 5th grade, when he moved here. He has beautiful blue eyes, a light complexion, and to top it all off, he has soft, delicate, light, pretty, amazing, life-changing blond hair that even the most professional hair stylists couldn't copy. He was the perfect package on the outside. But on the inside, we was the jerkiest of jerks. But he was nice to some people. His best friends, Reid and Marcus, the Kiwi Squad (yassss), and the teachers. He is polite to some of the girls, the girls who all they care about it their #Starbucksdrink and their makeup. But to everyone else, he basically despises you and doesn't want you to exist. I think Emma likes him, but she hasn't told me yet, and I won't assume anything about Emma, because I could be all wrong.

Emma blushed when he opened his locker to put his backpack in there. She was watching him as she was shutting her locker, and she accidently shut her hair with the door. Oh, I guess your wondering where I was in all of this. I was at my locker with Casey, sneakily stalking the two people at the other side of the hallway. Emma squealed a little bit, and Alex opened her locker door for her and stared into her eyes. They stayed staring at each other for about five minutes, and they both jumped when the bell rang. Casey and I were sniggering the entire time, trying to not burst out laughing. We clung onto each other until the bell rang. Emma quickly grabbed her books, mumbled "thanks" to Alex, then ran over to where me and Casey stood. We didn't say anything about it because me and Casey thought that if we said anything about it, we would probably pee our pants laughing.

"Well, I have to get to the library for study hall..." Casey said awkwardly, backing slowly towards the staircase. "Oh, yeah. Um, well Lucy and I will be going now," Emma said, nudging my elbow and turning towards the other staircase. "Bye Casey! See you in Health!" "Bye!"

Emma and I had a race down to the choir room. Emma beat me, sadly, and was wiggling her butt at me as she walked into the choir room. The awkwardness that was between everyone broke apart when we went to our classes. We were the first people in the classroom and our choir director was sitting on the piano bench with her eyes closed playing 'SOS' From Mamma Mia. I smiled when I heard that familiar song being played on my third favorite instrument. Emma and I stood there and listened to the teacher playing the song brilliantly on the piano. Her name was Ms. Thompson, and she just graduated college about 4 years ago, so she was one of the youngest teachers I've ever had. But she had an insane amount of control in the room. Everyone knew not to mess with her. I think Ms. Thompson has been our music teacher for 2 years now, so she knew our names already, thankfully.

When she finished playing the song, Emma and I gave her a round of applause. She jumped at the sound of our clapping, but when she realized who it was, she got up and bowed for us. We all laughed and when we finished, the rest of the huge class walked in, laughing and yelling and clapping their hands, and Emma and I rolled our eyes and made sure we got a spot at the front of the room.

Ms. Thompson went over the rules and our concerts for the year and when they were and told us to clear our schedules and stuff like that. And she announced that this year, we're doing our huge musical. Our school is so small, that every few years we do a huge musical and it usually is a huge hit. We have a reputation for having great voices and good costumes. The last play was Fiddler on the Roof, and so many people came that people sat in the aisles!! The Kiwi Squad wasn't in High School yet, so we couldn't participate. Every year, the sophomores do a play and the juniors also do a play, but there's no singing involved.

In Health, Biology, U.S. History, and English all we did was sit there and listen to the teacher go over the rules and syllabus. Finally, it was lunch time and we could sit where ever we wanted and be as loud as we wanted and eat as much food as we wanted. The Kiwi Squad sat away from everyone. It was Casey's day to pack a lunch. This is how the Kiwi Squad eats lunch together; everyday, someone packs a normal sized lunch that the three of us split. We never want to eat too much, especially during school. So when we get home, we all eat a dunch there (dinner and lunch. I couldn't remember if it was a Linner or what it was called)!

We all were eating a third of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich when Alex, Reid, and Marcus walked over to our table and plopped down next to us. Alex sat next to Emma and I, Reid squeezed in between Casey and I, and Marcus sat next to Casey and Emma. Emma got red immediately and shifted in her seat. "Hello ladies," Marcus said, nudging Emma and Casey. "Hello Marcus," I said. "Why the-" Casey shot a warning look at me. "I mean, Why are you guys here?"

"I just came here to talk to Emma alone," Alex said. "But those two turds follow me everywhere." He gestured to the other two men at our table. He whispered something to Emma and they both got up and walked to the other side of the cafeteria. They talked for what felt like a few minutes, then Emma slapped his face. HARD. She stomped over to our table and told the other two boys to get the- I'd prefer not to repeat what she said. Basically, Emma scared them off and sat down and continued eating her sandwich like nothing happened. Casey and I looked at her with disbelief, wanting answers. She looked at us and said, "Oh, yeah he's a cheater and a lying jerk. I'm just lucky no one noticed us." "WELL WOMAN??" Casey exclaimed. I just looked at her, because I was going to say that. "What?" Emma said, starting on her carrots. "What did he say to deserve the title as a cheater and a lying jerk??!!" "Ohh..." Emma said, swallowing her carrots down with grape water. "He whispered to me, 'We need to talk' and we went over there and he said 'okay so I have a girlfriend who goes to Birchhaven, which is 20 miles away, and I think you're cute so let's go out on a date and not tell Katelyn okay?' then he got closer to me and I backed away and he grabbed my waist then I slapped him. I made sure no one was looking before I did it though." Casey and I's mouths were wide open when she finished. We shook it off and continued on with our day. Casey and I had to go to band after lunch so we went there and Emma went to the library for her study hall.

The rest of the day was pretty normal. We only had French and Geometry after Band so we all tried our best to try not to fall asleep in the humid hot classroom.

The day ended and the Kiwi Squad headed out of the front doors and started our longish walk home...
