The next morning i woke up first, i saw that the driver was awake so i decided to go chat. i got out of the bus and saw the driver standing outside smoking. as soon as he saw me he immediately took it out of his mouth and threw it away.
"Hello sir" i said to him.
"hey kid" he replied. I looked around at the thin layer of snow surrounding the area.
"whats your name? by the way" i asked the driver.
"David, how about you?"
"Amanda, its nice to meet you" David looked at his watch.
"ah, i should probably wake everyone up, we need to get going soon" I nodded and headed back into the bus, i glanced at Christopher who was still sleeping, and i sat down. A few minutes later the other drivers woke up and we start moving again. I watched as trees, and signs went by outside the window. soon enough the twins woke up Christopher. I got up and grabbed on of the twins who was sitting in the seat next to Christopher, and sat in the seat, setting the twin down in my lap. I looked at Christopher who was holding a twin, and looking out the window quietly.
"Hey, Christopher, how you holding up?" he just simply shrugs not looking at me. "do you.....need...a huuug?" I looked at him smiling. he looked at me, I put my arms out.
"no, im fine, i dont need a hu-" i ignored him, lunged hug and gave him the biggest bear hug of my life. "ACK! AMANDA! NO! STOP" he struggled to be free.
"nope, too bad" i said as I squeezed him tighter. Eventually Christopher freed himself from my grip, i laughed. and I caught him smiling before he looked back out the window. I stood up and sat the twin back down next to Christopher and went back to my own seat. Later we stopped to eat lunch, Carla came to our bus and began to teach me how to read. It was actually harder than I expected, but i felt proud when i read a complete sentence. Christopher went outside to let the Twins play. Then Carla started talking to me about him once he was gone.
"so i heard about Christopher's brother.." she said.
"oh yeah, that was pretty tough"
"i wonder if Christopher is ok" she thought aloud.
"i dont know, but i gave him a hug attack earlier, and i saw him smile" Carla smiled.
"pfft, oh my gosh, that is just perfect, im glad he has a good friend like you" i looked at Carla.
"what about you? havnt you talked to him?" i asked. she sighs and looked down at her book.
"well, Christopher, dosnt seem like he really wants to talk, and, i try to respect that. tho it seems hugs are more effective anyways" she laughs, i laughed too. The driver came back into the bus and looked at us.
"ok girls, class time is over, time to get moving" Carla nodded, got up, said goodbye, and left to her bus. everyone came back in, Eric brought back a stick stating that it was his magic wand. Eric had to sit on my lap in order to make room for kids from the other bus. As we moved along, i started to doze off. I had a dream, i was in the bus, but it was empty. I looked out the window, but there was nothing outside, literally nothing. Then all of a sudden Carla was there, and so was Christopher. words started coming out of my mouth, but I didn't know what i was saying. it seemed like we were just having a friendly conversation. Then, all of a sudden, Carla, started to fade away. Christopher noticed immediately and tried to grab her hand, but it was already gone, Carla disappeared. the windows cracked, i started seeing red everywhere, i lifted my hands to look at them, but they were gone. I heard Christopher shouting, i didn't understand what he was saying, it was muffled, and seemed to be in a different language. but i did hear something, it was clear as day. i heard him shout,
"GIVE UP AND DIE!".
