"She's heading back to Atlus soon, y'know..."

    "I know, Tai."

"You could still try to talk to her."

    "Nope."

"You may never see her again."

    "Good."

"You are just a little ray of sunshine, aren't you?"

    "Yep."

Winter shook her hair out of her face. The engines of the airship started. "Did you have fun?" One of her teammates asked, smiling smugly. "I suppose...why are you looking at me like that?" The teammate leaned in. "Did'ja remember to say 'good-bye' to your boyfriend?" "My-" "That cutie that didn't talk much! You must remember, you tried to kill him a few times in the halls, remember? The guy you beat in the one-on-one match?" "Oh him-he is not my boyfriend." "Coulda fooled me. So did you say good-bye to him? I think he was a senior, so we won't get to see him at the next Vytal Tournament." "No, I did not." "Shame..." "Why?" "He's standing in the doorway to the school, see?" There he was. Red cape fluttering behind him, his uniform blazer unbuttoned and his tie missing, messy black hair falling into his pink-red eyes. Had he come to say goodbye to me?

Qrow was making as good time as he could hope-he would be in Vacuo by tomorrow night.

Holding the red cape closer to her body, Winter lay awake in her bed, staring up at the ceiling.  She had found that the night terrors were pacified slightly when she slept with the cape around her. Tonight, it was not nightmares that kept her up-it was a feeling, an indescribable but nonetheless powerful feeling that something really, really good was coming their way very soon. It was a soothing thought-one that coaxed her to a blissfully dreamless sleep.

"Coffee, Glynda?" She reluctantly agreed, and took the steaming mug. James smiled, then trained his eyes back out the window. "How is Winter?" Glynda took a long, slow sip from her coffee before answering. "I don't think she has been taking her medication." "Why?" She smiled at the look of horror and confusion on her friend's face. "Isn't it obvious? She want to see Qrow again-you noticed how they liked to flirt with each other, right?" James blinked his blue eyes vacantly. "No." "Well, I suppose that makes sense. You were never very good at picking up romantic hints." "You don't know that!" "Trust me, James, I know. I know very well." Again, James didn't seem to quite get it. "What-" "You are doing it right now in fact." "I-Glynda?" "Goodnight, James." "Wait!" "Goodnight, James.".
