The Change

If he ignored them they might just go away, he thought as he moved back further into the house. The cloth was back in his mouth as he inched backwards, he didn't even dare to breath. The couldn't find him like this, he was too vulnerable right now only part vampire and by no means in control. He checked the clock on the wall, as he inched further back into the kitchen. The floor was white marble and the table was a deep brown oak. All the cabinets and utensils in there were to make it seem like a working kitchen rather than for show. Everything was stylish sleek and modern, only a few bits of it were used, mostly for Stiles benefit, the tomato soup needed to be warm after all. The fridge was the only thing used regularly and that was because "Waste not want not." If there was still blood in the animal they had caught they were supposed to bottle it and put it in the fridge for later.

The house was practically made of windows, there was a set of double doors just behind him looking out into the wild unattended garden, looked like their gardener had died of old age again. Luckily, Scott and Derek didn't try the back-way in. It would be ten minutes before the rest of the family got back so he would just have to stay silent and out of the way until then.

Eventually they walked away to go see the rest of the pack and Stiles sucked in a huge breath, he weirdly hadn't felt any ill affect from not breathing, looking at the clock he realised he hadn't breathed in seven minutes! He felt fine though, he rushed over to the study where Carlisle had left his stethoscope and pressed it to his chest. No heart beat! He stood there in shock for the last three minutes before everyone else got back. He wasn't breathing then either, he couldn't understand it. They found him there, just standing and listening to nothing.

Alice and Jasper lead him back into the living room, his Dad found the cloth on the side in the kitchen, he cleaned it and filled it back up with the soup before bringing it in to Stiles. The asked him what had happened so he told them the whole story, from Scott and Derek to his lack of breathing and pulse. When they heard the whole thing, Rosalie was furious "How dare they come here and try to threaten you! They kicked you out!"

"Calm down Rose, it's okay I don't want to see them yet, but I will go and find them once I have my powers. Besides I am more interested to know how they knew I was here." Stiles said looking thoughtful, he was breathing again out of habit but so was everyone else in the room.

Soon it was night and Stiles went to bed, he was the only one in the house to have one but as he climbed the stairs he could hear the "Adults" talking about getting everyone a bed so not to arouse suspicion. Edward walked into his room with him and they talked on his bed for a little bit before Stiles fell asleep. Edward just tucked him in and went back down stairs to help Jasper get Emmet back for a prank he pulled on the way over.

The next day Stiles woke up to the sounds of nature on full volume, everything was so loud, he could smell EVERYTHING and see for miles as clearly as the things in front of him. As he got up from the sheets they felt more course and starchy, now he understood the silk sheets everyone else had suggested, he walked down the stairs to get breakfast and bumped into Esme. "Morning Stiles." She said in a cheery voice, the added noise gave Stiles a head ache and he slumped to the floor holding his head. "Stiles what's the matter?!" She asked dropping down next to him.

"Everything is so loud!" he managed in a hushed voice clinging to his ears.

"Oh, you have your hearing. That's great! Sweetie, the trick it to focus only on the sound you want to hear everything else becomes background noise and thus quieter, till you want to listen to it. Try it focus on my voice."

So he did, he listened only to what she was saying and everything else did quieten down into the background. He took his hands away and let her help him up onto a stool. A plate of sausages eggs and bacon was put in front of him with a tall glass of thick orange juice. He favoured liquids but this was still so good, lucky for him Esme could remember how to cook. His Dad had to learn from scratch. All those taste tests, he shivered at the thought.  His compulsion came next every vampire had compulsion it worked on maximum three victims at a time and this is what mad his Dad's gift so special, he could command an army of thousands if need be. After about ten minutes Stiles had birds performing acrobatics on the windowsill, making everyone laugh.

Soon everyone was down and mucking about. Most of the holidays were like this, during that time Stiles had got his vamp speed, agility and discovered his gift off telekinesis (moving things with his mind). It had been eventful to say the least.

The last thing now was to start drinking blood and stop eating food. The first day back at school was tomorrow and the pack hadn't come 'round since that first day. The cars had arrived and Stiles would be riding with Edward. The money was stored in a bank set up by a special part of the government that dealt with the supernatural, it allowed them to save and pool their money in a safe place without civilians picking up on it. If a Cullen's member got a job then part of their pay check went to this bank and over the years they had become close to millionaires. They had enough houses for it.

At lunch Stiles was about to eat, he had mastered his fangs three days ago, when suddenly the food smelt terrible. He tried to put some of it in his mouth but as soon as it hit his tongue the taste was so horrific that he had to spit it out. His Dad rushed over to see what was wrong, he was holding one of the bottles of blood from the fridge and as soon as Stiles smelt it he couldn't hold back. He grabbed it and emptied the bottle. To Stiles it tasted like heaven, but he knew that human blood would taste even better, however that was off limits. By his choice and the family's. It was rich, sweet and salty at the same time, acidic and metallic but in the best way possible. It felt like heaven sliding down his throat coating the inside. And it was sooo addictive he wanted sooo much more, this wasn't enough but it was a start, he looked around to see everyone looking at him. Suddenly they were all yelling excitedly and hugging him. He was officially a monster now and he was home. School tomorrow, how was he going to manage? He even smelt like a cold one.
