Louis POV
"Louis what the fuck you were supposed to come out! Either you do it or I will!" Devin yelled after we exited the dinning room to talk. I stated that I wasn't ready to tell my parents about our relationship over dinner tonight.
I knew my parents would react poorly, they were very conservative and would more than likely shun me for life but Devin kept insisting I tell them or he would.
The reason Devin is so keen on me coming out to my parents is because he was in the middle of purchasing a new apartment and as soon as he brought up the fact of us living together I quickly denied the request. Sure I hate how conservative my parents are but I've lived with them my whole life, they've given me everything and Devin knows that. But he thinks that it's no big deal, That I can just "drop everything and leave" since that's what he did when he came out the beginning of our senior year.
He probably figured that if I come out or he comes out for me than I'd be forced to live with him, given the nature of my situation.
Although it was pretty selfish move Devin was a great guy and I truly do love him.
We slowly headed back to the table, returning to very disappointed faces.
They heard our conversation.
"Get out" my dad spoke with a tone almost resembling sadness and not anger.
As I went to turn away I could see his fist go through the air, almost as though it was all in slow motion. He punched me twice, once in the gut and once in the face while Devin stood in the doorway watching as I fell to the floor without being able to defend myself.
He could of done something, he chose not to. That's when I had enough and I realized that Devin doesn't actually love me, at least I don't think he does. We could talk about it later on since right now I'm in pretty bad shape.
After leaving what used to be my house and family, I was forced to stay with Devin. As we entered his car I could tell he was sorry, he knew it would happen but thought it would be for the best.
We entered his apartment which was actually quite nice. I would never be able to afford something like that with my current part time job. Through the main door you were brought into a living room with decorations and family pictures almost as though he was trying to recreate his old home. I genuinely felt bad which I'm pretty sure he noticed asking to move on. On the right side of the living room there were 2 doors, he brought me over to the first one. He started to speak but soon got nervous "you can sleep in the guest room tonight, I think it would be better" you could tell his nerves were acting up. Anytime he tried to speak it seemed as though he felt like he was going to say the wrong thing.
He knew I was upset. Both at the situation he got me into and his reaction to it. He handed me an old blanket. I think it was his as a kid, stoping to think for a moment as he said "goodnight Louis" and proceeded to shut the door with care. I knew for a fact that after what happened tonight I wouldn't be able to sleep, I was too sore and definitely not able to rap my head as around what happened earlier that night quite yet.
I sat up from the guest bed and walked quietly to the door trying not to get Devins attention. Opening the door slowly I was able to confirm that Devin had already gone into his room. After stepping out of the room I could hear a faint sob coming from Devins room, knowing that he genuinely felt bad made me feel a little bit better. I went to the front door and headed out into the hallway hoping to find a place of solitude within the small building. Upon further investigation I was met with a door to the roof with a sign stating that an alarm would go off if I was to open it. I've seen way too many movies to know how not true that sign was so I quickly opened the door and was met with a small staircase leading me to another door which I presumed would lead me to the roof.
Climbing up the stairs I slowly turned the handle on the door and stepped outside. Upon further inspection I notice a boy standing on the edge of the roof. Thinking he was contemplating jumping I walked over hoping to help.
"I'm not going to jump don't worry. I didn't think anyone else came up here" he stated quietly but with a slight laugh.
"I needed an escap-" I was quickly interrupted with his voice "don't we all"
