A week after the party...
"Hey, Alannah!" Georgie shouted from across the hall and rushed over to her. The two girls collided and Alannah screamed with fear as she thought her friend might kill her with her enthusiasm. Georgie was a small Hispanic girl who was both one of the most innocent girls ever and a lesbian. Alannah could never see how both of those characteristics could coexist but somehow here she was, a junior in high school.
"Hi, Georgie," Alannah said while she attempted to peel off the little girl wrapped around her waist. Finally, she removed her and they walked to lunch together, Georgie smiling the whole way. If you watched her closely it almost seemed like she had a small skip in her step, kinda like a kindergartner on her first day of school.
Once in the cafeteria, Georgie got in the lunch line while Alannah went to go sit with the rest of her friends. She had been gone sick for two days so her friends wanted to fill her in on what happened while she was gone even though she honestly couldn't give a single shit. Hannah and Jess talked about boys, Kim talked about upcoming tests, Kelly talked about sports, and, when she arrived at the table, Georgie began humming to her self as if she was completely oblivious to what was going on around her.
Alannah just sat and "listened" while she caught up on homework, not really paying to anyone but Kim since what she was saying was actually important. She was the stereotypical smart Asian girl but what was unique was she was also a cheerleader with Hannah and Jess. Another thing special about Kim was her bright red-rimmed glasses that she was always pushing up her face.
After everyone was finally done talking (thank god they stopped) Georgie made herself present by saying, "Jess, you forgot the part about how Q is being bullied." They all turned to her with mouths gaping but she was already back in Neverland or wherever she goes. Alannah realized what she said and turned to Jess who looked mad she had mentioned that. "Since when does Quinten get bullied?"
Jess turned to Alannah and sighed, but finally let out the answer. "Ever since two days ago, when some guys started saying shit about you and he stood up for you. Then yesterday he and Jared got in a huge fight."
Jared was the star quarterback of the football team and had been "looking after Alannah" ever since the accident. He and Q had some issues in the past but it has been even worse since Alannah came into the picture. Alannah thought to herself quietly before getting up, saying goodbye, and leaving. She didn't really know where she was going but she felt like she needed to do something. That's when she heard the clapping.
Across the courtyard was a group of people and in the center was Jared, Q, and six other football player holding him up. Then Jared hit him. And again. And again. And again. The next thing Alannah knew she was standing in the middle of the group yelling, "What the hell are you guys doing?!"
