Xavier sat with his back against rubble. Dust filling the air, making it hard to see or smell. He looked around, breathing slightly heavily, but quietly. Sweat forming on his face.
~My team is down. I'm all that's left. But they only have one left too. I can do this if I try to think of something.~ Just as he attempted to think of an answer a gun pointed at the back of his head from the opposite side of the rubble. He quickly grabbed the barrel and yanked it forward. Launching the person holding it over him. They rolled, then stood and turned towards him.
Xavier quickly jumped at them, tackling them to the ground. He pinned them down, their hands behind their back. A loyd blare sounded and the dust was cleared from the room and the rubble disappeared into pixels and codes. The giant clear room was left with it's pure white walls.
"Nice try." He got up and grabbed the person by their tail and lifted them up.
"OOOOOW! STOOOOP THAT HURTS! Please please please let me down!" Noelle took her helmet off as she struggled to escape his grip. "I won't do it again I swear!"
"Good." He dropped her to the ground and she quickly sat to check her tail. "I don't like people snooping through my room."
"I wasn't snooping!... much..." Xavier crossed his arms and glared down at her. "Alright! I'm sorry. I won't do it again." He grinned then turned to the wall that opened as a door. Eight others stepped in one at a time. Angelo, Deryn, Zora, Ainsley, and some new add ons to the teams.
The Protectors and trainees to become Protectors. The team of protectors were the five that started this battle against The Corporation.
Angelo, the leader. He was a gun guru, of sorts. Deryn, she was the one that was always there when she was needed. Strength and compassion being her strong suits. Xavier's sister Zora, the girl as cold as the steel her Kusarigama was made of. The trouble maker, Noelle. Being part Demon and Fire neko, she feared werewolves and wolves in general, but Deryn, Zora, and Xavier had gotten on her good side after everything they had been through. But lastly, was Xavier. The last halfbreed of Werewolf and Vampire left. He was the one that took the hits and bullets to protect the others when he felt he needed to.
The trainees were the ones among the rest of the beasts the group had saved. But they had chosen to help the protectors and soon become protectors themselves. Ainsley had been there for a while, and she had grown into kind of like a second little sister to Xavier.
The new recruits, Emerald Lightning, Opal Pearlheart, Wishiko, and Wren Lee, along with Ainsley, were all training to become a part of the protectors. Angelo taught them gun use and counters. Noelle and Zora taught them blades combat. And Deryn and Xavier taught them hand to hand combat. Xavier still ended up being the one pinned on the ground when Deryn was teaching.

The Protectors weren't the only ones out there readying themselves for a fight though. A man in a lab coat stood in front of a desk with a clipboard of papers in his hand. Next to the chair on the opposite side was a girl. She smiled at the person sitting in the chair.
"Sir, when do you plan to take out the Protectors? Every day we lose more and more test subjects from our facilities because they break in! I think we need to up our security or... or find some way to take them out!" The chair on the opposite side of the desk turns to show a person with a mask. A white mask with two eyes full of black. Blue coming from the eyes showing tears. The voice was so deep it was almost demonic.
"The Protectors. They are no importance to me. These forests are full of beasts. If we lose one. Find five more. If we lose ten. Find fifty. I do not care how hard they work to free those creatures. We are revolutionizing human society if we can get the DNA of these creatures and use it on our own. If we can perfect it we can have an army of humans. Humans with abilities that will be unstoppable. We will be the most powerful army with no government to control us. Only one leader to give the orders. Me."
"B-but sir!" Suddenly a hole found it's way onto the man's forehead as a bullet flew through his skull.
"Would you like me to clean that up sir?" The girl asked. The person simply waves their hand with the gun to motion for the go ahead. "Yes sir." The girl walks around the desk and grabs the dead scientist's hand. She drags him behind her, leaving a trail of deep red, staining the carpet. The person turns and looks out the wall of glass overlooking the ocean and the waves crash against the cliff.
"My plan will come to it's result. And those... 'Protectors', will soon need to be protected."
