I woke up the next morning, determined to figure out what ever secret my grandparents were keeping from me.

That's what I was always like. Stubborn as a mule. If I wanted something I was gonna get it.

I headed out into the lounge room and saw grandma in the kitchen making her famous blueberry pancakes.
I sat down at the dining table next to grandpa, who was drinking coffee and reading the morning paper.

We sat in an awkward silence for a while until I decided to speak up.

"Where did you go last night grandpa"
"It was nowhere that concerns you" was his reply. Frankly, I was shocked! We used to tell each other everything.

"Well, at least tell me who the boy that was with you was" I said.
My grandparents looked at each other before grandma decided to speak.

"Look Melissa, what happened last night was none of your business and we have no intentions of telling you what is going on. As for the boy, you will not speak about him again. Do you understand me?" She raised her voice.

This whole conversation was just making me more and more frustrated.
"I'm going for walk" I said before. Risky getting up and leaving the table.

I walked quickly across the sandy shoreline, taking in the salt air. I walked and walked and walked. Until I noticed something.

On the side of the cliff just a bit out from the beach, was a cave. You wouldn't be able to get there from the beach but you could easily take a boat there. If you avoided all the rocks.

Then I saw something that made me even more curious. Something made me wonder what the hell was going on.

Standing on one of the rocks on the outside of the cave was the same boy that I saw with grandpa last night.
