Ashton lied on the side of his bed, his head under the duvet. His parents were gone and he wanted to spend his afternoon sleeping, something that never happens when his parents are there. He had been insomniac the week before due to his parents staying up late to talk about him. They were always talking about Ashton needing to go to a Rehab clinic. He heard scribbling on the wall and he sat immediately, breathing heavily.
hi ashton
"Who is that? Who's there?" He squeaked out. He hoped with all his heart it wasn't Alex.
More scribbling appeared on the wall, why not? do you not like me? are you scared of me, ashton? please don't tell me you are. oh, no, you are, aren't you-
The scribbling stopped and Ashton assumed it had stopped but he went on to say something.
"Alex?" He asked, afraid of the outcome.
yes?
Ashton's eyes widened, almost too wide to comprehend and he backed up in his bed, his head hitting the back board behind his head. He visibly cringed and lifted his hand to his head to hold the area he'd hit. "W - why are you here?" he asked, looking around his room trying to find Alex's location.
um, could you turn off the music? i can barely hear myself think – alex
"Y - yeah," He answered quietly as he grabbed his phone from the table beside his bed. He pressed a few buttons on the phone and at once the music turned off, leaving Alex and him to an awkward silence.
you don't have to be scared of me, you know. – alex
"W - what did you want to talk about?" Ashton quickly changed the subject as quickly as possible.
"W - what are you? How come I can't see you? Why are you writing these notes to me?" Ashton rambled on and on until Alex wrote another note to him. This time, it wasn't on the wall; it was on a piece of paper that landed on his lap.
you can't see me, because i'm a ghost. have you not noticed that? – alex
Ashton stumbled upon his next words, "N - no. But it's not my fault I can't see you at all."
oh, sorry, but i'll show you what i look like when i can trust you. – alex
"Can we do this little 'encounter' another time? I'm currently working on getting some sleep." Ashton groaned but then remembered that she was a ghost and she could do anything she wanted. His hands reached up to cover his mouth to keep himself from screaming. His breath increased and Alex panicked as she wrote another note to him.
why are you breathing like that? – alex
"It's n - nothing." He squeaked. It wasn't long until his breathing decreased and he fell back into his bed, unconscious. Alex lifted up his non-moving body and placed the covers over his body, making it look as if he's asleep. She left a note under his phone for him to find once he wakes up later on.
i covered you, if you're wondering. i'm sorry i scared you, again. i have a habit of doing that. but please try not to be afraid of me, i won't hurt you, i promise. – alex
Ashton woke up after his nightmare of Alex once again, remembering the events of the previous night. The doctor and his own father were planning to put him into a rehab clinic to 'fix him' but Ashton didn't know yet.
He looked to his left and picked up his phone. After finding the small note Alex left, he felt the small tears forming in his eyes as he remembered how his own best friend and his own girlfriend and only about everyone else thought he was insane.
He broke down onto the ground, waking his father up. And his father had no choice but to bring him to the rehab clinic sooner than he bargained for.
