It had started with a flame
A flick of a forgotten torch
And heat which had caused its fame
They had seen the fire dance
Smelled the putrid smoke
But even then there wasn't a chance
She was chained up within
Bound to her bed by sickness
Her bones too weak
Body far too thin
To even dare to carry her self away
Away from the fire and pain
It had licked along her skin
Like some crimson red dream
And while she struggled and thrashed
No one on the outside heard her scream
The heat burned away at her hair
Replacing her ivory skin with black
And once blue eyes just as fair
Had turned azure orbs back
Away from the burning light
And towards the end of the tunnel
Where she was unwilling to fight
One eye opened to the hospital room
Blinking away acid tears
And before her sat a mirror
Revealing the worst of her fears
Where once was beauty was now a beast
Replaced by a mask of lies
Her new face was nothing but the fire's feast
Her spirit only seen in the last of her azure eyes
One eye opened to the bright white room
Blinking away acid tears
And before her sat a mirror
Revealing the worst of her fears
