"What do you think he will be like?," I asked Mimi. My eyes were closed as she tightened the lace on my dress.
"I'm not sure. They say he is rich though" she said. She finished tying and faced me. I sighed and opened my eyes. She didn't have her usual smile on. She had concern in her eyes. I bit my lip.
"It's ok. I will marry him if it means it will keep my family from losing all of their money" I brushed her cheek and smiled. She didn't look convinced, but she left the matter alone. I brought myself over to the mirror and looked at myself. The dress was the length of the floor and dark blue.
Mimi came next to me and looked at her reflection as well. She was wearing a green dress. She looked so beautiful. It is a shame that she will have to take the dress off to do her circus act.
A knock came on the door.
"Come in" I said. My mother came in and smiled at me.
"You both look lovely. Mimi, they are looking for you in the dance hall" my mother said. Mimi nodded and bowed before leaving the room.
I looked at my mother. Her smile was gone, and so was mine.
"I wish that you wouldn't make friends with the maids" she said, coming over to me. I looked away.
"Well it's not like you will let me go OUT and make friends. So I have to make do here" I said. She sighed. I sat down on my bed and crossed my arms.
"Dad would have let me done it" I muttered. My mother's eyes were filled with sorrow and anger. Her red and black dress bobbed with her every step as she waltzed up to me. She lifted my chin.
"Your father is not here anymore. I will decide what is best for you. Now go downstairs to greet your guests" she said and left.
My eyes fell on the floor.
Perhaps I should just do as she says. I need to think about everyone, and not just myself.
"Because I just cannot wait to meet my future husband" I said to myself as I slammed the door behind me.
Time for the party that will decide my future.
I can see it now.
"Prince Christopher married to Princess Madison". I guess it has a nice ring to it... right?
