Chapter 9, I thought.
I’m a writer. I’m currently writing my second book. My first book was a big success, people loved it, and people bought it. I groaned, I’m not in the mood to write. I held my head in my hands, come on, Vic . . . think.
I shook my head, I have to do this. I continued to write, my eyes focusing on every single word that I wrote, my brain giving me more and more ideas. And then I stopped. My stomach was growling, begging for food. I rolled my eyes. I’ll eat later.
My phone was ringing but I ignored it. I’ll call that person later.
When I reached the end of chapter nine, I decided that I should go and get some coffee . . . and maybe some food. I stood up, stretching. I walked outside; the sun’s shining as always. As I walked, I played with the ends of my brown hair . . . Well, more like brushing the ends of my hair with my hands, realizing how tangled the ends were.
“Stupid hair,” I muttered. “Ugh!” I pulled my hands far away from my hair and put both of my hands in the pockets of my shorts. I walked faster; people were staring at me like I was a freak. I stopped walking when my phone rang; I looked at the screen to see who it was.
It was Lauren.
“Hey, Vic, what’s up?” she asked. My eyes widened. I can hear people laughing, someone playing the guitar, and Collin yelling ‘Hey Vic!’
“Band rehearsal . . .” I mumbled to myself.
“Yeah, so, you want to come?” Lauren asked. I thought for a second . . . Ryder’s there.
“Where?” I asked.
“Collin’s house,” she said. “But, Luca isn’t here yet. Collin can call him and ask him to pick you up, though.”
“Anyone else but Luca, please. Ask Ryder to pick me up.”
“Ryder’s already here,” she paused. “Come on, Vic.”
“Fine,” I growled. “By the way, Lauren, fuck you.”
*
“So,” he said.
“Don’t.”
I’m sitting here in Luca’s car, and he’s trying to talk to me. Great. We’re not that far from Collin’s house but, trust me it feels like an eternity. I sighed loudly and started to brush the ends of my hair with my hands again.
“Oh, so you do that often?” Luca asked.
“Do what?” I crossed my arms in front of my chest.
“You’re so weird,” he scoffed.
I rolled my eyes, what is up with him? He’s the one who’s weird, not me.
“Okay we’re here,” he said.
“Finally,” I got out of his car and knocked on Collin’s front door loudly.
Suddenly the front door opened,
“You should play the drums, man. That was loud—” Ryder was right in front of me, he stopped and he stared at me for a while, “Wait, I know you.”
“You smiled at me when you saw me in the crowd,” I started. “Hi, my name’s Victoria.”
“I-I’m Ryder.”
I thought his hair was brown but, I was wrong. His hair’s dirty blonde. I was impressed when I saw that his eye color matched mine, they’re green.
“Hey, Ry,” Luca said, giving Ryder a pat on the back. “Let’s go!”
Ryder wasn’t paying attention at all. Luca looked at me before he walked away, searching for the others. I cleared my throat,
“We should probably go now.”
“We should probably go out sometime,” he smiled.
