I cryed my self to sleep again, I have to stop doing that. The next day went by fast and I stay in my room the whole day; with the lights off staying under my blanket. My Mom comes knocking on the door a couple times 'saying how she was sorry about yesterday and she needs to talk to me. I never say anything and she always goes away. My brother came a couple of times as well saying the same stuff but I never answered. Finally it is the day before the choosing.

I figure I should get out my room today because it is going to be one of the last times I'm going to see my family. Even if they probably don't want to talk to me or see me. I walk to the door and open it. I walk  down the stairs to the living room and nobody was there. I hear people talking in the kitchen so I sneak over to the door, not letting them know that I was there and I hear what they're saying. They're talking about me.a

"OK guys we have to have a talk about Angela." Dad said "As you may know, Angela is a little different as she cannot turn like we can. She is possibly not going to get a mate tomorrow. So today we need to hang out with her as much as we can even if she does not want us to." They always told me that I have a chance, that I might to get a mate. They always gave me confidence. It's all been a lie. I wish they would've just told me the truth from the beginning. It still hurts hearing those words from my father more than anything I've ever felt before. Its not like I thought. I was going to get a mate or anything it's just they always told me that it's a possibility and now they don't even think it's a possibility so it's not even important for me to go.

"You don't know that Father, she still can get a mate!"" Yeah it's not like we need to tell her to give up hope!" Katie said. God, she's not as bad as I thought. I was happy that Katie was defending me. That means she doesn't hate me, I regret everything I said about her. I know it's not her fault and I should not have said those awful things "well it is possible but not likely" My dad said. "Honey don't tell them that" my mom said "why?" my dad raises his voice "because it's pretty much telling them they're not going to see there sister again and you don't know that! She could still get mate." "Honey please it's time to think about reality now"my dad said.

I was watching them through the crack of the door when suddenly they all looked at me. They scared the shit out of me, they must've smelled me or something. My dad Started to talk but I cut him off before he could. "Hey guys he's right, I'm probably not going to find a mate tomorrow and that's OK. I've been planning for this day since I was little. Don't worry about it." I turned around and walked to the stairs. I can hear my mom crying as I get to my room. I'm not upset about it, I know it was coming sooner than later. I pick up my phone from my dresser and I text Nick. He's a friend of mine who knows my family secret. He's more like my best friend.

Angela: Hey do you think I can stay over your house for a little while?
(Couple minutes later)
Nick: Yeah but the choosing is tomorrow?
Angela: Yeah I'm skipping it. Do you think you can come pick me up?
Nick: What do you mean you're skipping out? You can't skip it and yeah I can come pick you up. Do your parents know about this?
Angela: Not exactly, I'm kind of running away.
Nick: What do you mean you're running away? the elders are going to send somebody to find you. They are going to come to my house and I'm gonna get my ass kicked by my dad.
Angela: No, they're not going to send anybody because I'm not worth it remember, I'm the odd one out of the park.
Nick: Yeah I guess you're right. Why do you want to run away anyway?
Angela: It's going to hurt my family less if I'm just not here and I don't even try so are you coming or not.
Nick: Yeah I'm coming in 45 minutes and I better not get my ass beat because of you.
Angela: OK best friend love you.
Nick: OK best friend love you too bitch.

I put my phone in my pocket and I get my two suitcases. I put them on my bed and start putting clothes in them. I hear a knock on my door and somebody opens it, it was my brother Joe "hey" before he could finish a sentence he said something else. "What the fuck are you doing?? Why are you packing??" "Because Nick is coming to pick me up." I reply "are you running away?" he asked in a loud voice "Lower your goddamn voice" I say back to him. "And yes I am running away." " why are you running away? The choosing is tomorrow and you don't even know." Before he could finish the sentence I said "yeah yeah you don't know if I'm going to get mate or not whatever I'm just going to go."

"I'm not going to let you go" he said "what are you gonna do?"" I'm going to go tell mom and dad." "Fine go ahead they can't stop me" "oh yeah? They can they can tell the elders and they are going to send somebody for you." "They are not going to do that because I'm not worth it" "You know that you are still part of this pack don't you?" "I'm not really." I say back to him. "fine go ahead try it" he yells and walks out slamming the door. I hear him walk down the stairs loudly and he is talking to my parents. Shit, he actually did it.
