Andrea's POV:
The sunlight was faintly peeking through my curtained window and lightly touching my skin. What a beautiful morning I thought until I heard my alarm starting ringing. Right, it's school today I remembered. I tried to ignore it and threw a pillow on my head to cancel out the noise the alarm was making. Though the alarm was getting louder and louder and I had no choice than to get up, turn it off and start to get ready for school. I was a little surprised that I didn't press snooze at least four times like I usually do.

Today was the last day of school before spring break so I guess that's one of the reasons that didn't make me snooze all morning. Also, it's my birthday so maybe today will be a little better than every other typical day.

I grabbed my morning robe, tied it around my body and tip toed down the stairs to get some breakfast.

''Happy Birthday Andrea!'' My mom and Theo said in choir.

I looked over at the kitchen island and saw how they had prepared my favourite breakfast, which is french toast with fresh berries and some cotton cheese. I also saw some other cut up fruits laying at the table. Seeing good looking food always makes me a little happier in the morning.

''Thank you,'' I smiled and gave them a hug. ''This looks really good by the way,'' I added.

''Theo woke up really early today to help me prepare all this,'' my mom said and had an arm around him looking proud of her son, and she should be. If you could ever imagine the perfect little brother Theo is an example of that.

''That's so nice of you Theo,'' I said and grabbed some french toast and sat down the table with my brother.

''Honey, I'm really sorry that I can't spend more time with you right now but I need to go to work. But I'll see you later at the dinner,'' my mom said grabbed her car keys and gave both me and Theo a kiss on the cheek.

Maybe five minutes after mom left the house I heard a knock on the door. ''Come in!'', I shouted and it was no one else than Shawn himself.

''Happy Birthday Andie!,'' he shouted from the hallway.

''Thank you but you know I hate it when you call me that,'' I replied.

''Whats up lil bro?'' He did a brofist with Theo. It's funny how he's sometimes nicer to him than me and how he acts like he would actually be his older brother.

''What?'' He laughed and pulled his fingers through his brown fluffy hair. ''You know that big bros and lil bros connect with other bros, right?'' He raised his eyebrows at me.

''Whatever,'' I shook my head and continued on my delicious birthday breakfast.

''I have something for you,'' he then said.

''Really?'' I said and suddenly looked impressed.

''I mean, yeah, it's your birthday so of course I have something for you,'' he gave me this nice wrapped up gift. ''Aaliyah helped me to wrap it up,'' he also mumbled. But I could figure it out because he was never that great at wrapping gifts.

I wraped it up and saw a little black box laying inside of it and inside of it there was a necklace. ''Omg Shawn.. This is so pretty!''

''You like it?'' He asked. ''It also represents how lucky I am to have you as a friend.''

''Of course I do, thank you, this is really sweet!'' I replied and took the gold four leaf clover necklace and put it on my neck.

''You're welcome, also I got to borrow my mum's car today so I figured I could drive you to school. We could drop off Theo as well.''

''Oh okay, I'm just gonna go up stairs and change,'' I said looking at me still being in my morning robe.

***
After school and the dinner with my family I decided to go up stairs to my room and I was looking through the notebook again. It was almost like something was drawing me towards it and telling me to look it through one more time. I opened it up and on the first page it said ''Bank of America Plaza, the highest building in Dallas''. I remember writing this one down. The point of this one was to start off with something that was here in Dallas where we live. It's easy to miss out on places in your own city. The purpose was to somehow go on top of the building and just watch the view and see how small we are and how big the world is. How little we get to see of it.

Suddenly I heard my bedroom door slam open without anyone knocking and it made me jump up and I dropped the notebook on the floor.

''Oh, sorry,'' Shawn said and walked into my room. It was so typical of him to casually walk into my room as if it was his own. He have done it pretty much since we started being friends. ''I didn't mean to scare you,'' he laughed and looked innocent as he always did.

''Have you ever heard of knocking before?'' I asked curiously and a little annoyed.

''Yes I have,'' he said still laughing.

''Then why don't you knock before you barge into someone else's room?'' I argued.

''I forgot but it was a little fun to see you react this way,'' he said and sat down on my bed.

I rolled my eyes but we both knew that I could never stay annoyed or mad at Shawn for more than five minutes. I took up the notebook from the floor and saw a piece of paper lying beside it that fell out from the book. I didn't really remember leaving a piece of paper inside of the book though. I took it up with the book and I already saw that it was my dad's handwriting.

''Even though I won't be here at your 18th birthday you know who you should go with to this places instead of me. So please go and I'll always be with you. / love dad''

As I read it I got shivers through my body, it was weird to be reading something like this ten years after he passed away. It was like I could hear his voice again and he was standing right beside me. But the question is when did he put this in and how didn't I notice it until now? I wrinkled my eyebrows and just stared at the paper and his handwriting. Though I haven't really touched this book in years since yesterday. But I did really carefully watch it through yesterday like ten times.

''What's that?'' Shawn asked looking over at both the paper and notebook.

''It's just a thing me and dad did a few years ago,'' I said still being a little conscious. ''But you know what Shawn. It's actually good that you came by.''

He looked at me and waited until I would say more because he knew that asking questions like that to me was a little pointless. If I half-answer a question it's probably because I'm not willing to tell you and you'll just have to wait until I've decided to share with you.

''I think we're going on a little trip and our first stop is to the top of the Bank of America Plaza building,'' I smiled and looked at him looking back at me confused.

Shawn's POV:
She looked smiled so beautifully, in a way that I've never seen before. Like she just discovered something crazy. I don't know why she wanted me to follow her on top of a building at 8 pm but honestly, she could be leading me off a cliff and I'd still follow her. Actually, she pretty much was leading me off a cliff because she wanted to get on top of Dallas tallest skyscraper and the 30th tallest in the USA. But I don't care either way. I would follow her wherever she would go.
