The hotel I was staying at, a huge glass building that's surface reflected the rays of the full moon, was on the corner of one of the busiest streets in the city. That being the case, there were plenty of people walking around, even though it was close to two in the morning. As I approached the building that loomed before me, a burly man at the front door greeted me. "Hello Miss. A nice night to be taking a walk isn't it?" he said with a strong Irish accent. I knew he was only trying to be nice and not give away the fact that he thought I was out doing something I shouldn't be doing. "Yes," I replied in the sweetest tone I could muster, "It is a beautiful night tonight.” He eyed me suspiciously, taking in the condition of my attire. I saw this and, looking into the reflective surface of the building, assessed my clothing.

Well I won’t be wearing this outfit again, I thought as I saw my ragged clothes. The dress I was wearing, one of the many stylish yet functional ones I owned, was grimy from the fight in the alley and had multiple rips and holes in it. Now I understood why this guy was acting so suspicious, I looked as if I had gotten into a fight...which I had, but still. Smiling at the man, I hurriedly walked through the hotel doors, into the vast lobby.

The lobby of the hotel had a modern setting, with round couches and multiple flat screen TVs scattered around. Walking past the front desk, getting an uneasy look from the stern looking woman there, I went through the door that led to the stairwell. Yes, I know they have elevators, but I don't like being trapped in small spaces. After climbing twenty-six flights of stairs (what did you expect? my room is on the twenty-sixth floor) I arrived at room 226 and slid my key card through the scanner.

Opening the door and turning on the lights, I immediately surveyed my surroundings for anything out of the ordinary; something I have a habit of doing. Finding everything just as I had left it, I walked over to the floor to ceiling window. Looking out over the city, it was hard to believe just an hour ago I was fighting in an alley.

The city I was currently in was big, with many high buildings whose tops pierced through the sky. Looking out, I could see the bright neon lights of clubs and restaurants dancing in the reflection of the cars that passed by. People walked on the sidewalks while cars and taxi's drove by, all of them oblivious to the dangers that lurked in the shadows
