Small raindrops dripped from the railing, falling on the ground and creating a puddle. On top of the railing, was a girl. Her black hair soaked by the rain, as her small body would shake. Not because she was cold, she was sobbing. Her salted tears mixed in with the rain droplets, falling onto her crimson stained sweater. It used to be a lovely pink color, she remembered buying it. She fell in love with the softness, the little thin white lines that were on it as well. But now it was a crimson color, the color of her blood stained on it. Her hands gripped the gray railing with force, the salted river under her would move with such aggression that it seemed to wave at her. Inviting her to come join, let the salt sting her wounds and let her taste the sweet death of death.
"Dad, do you w-" Dong Hyun entered the office of his father, his tablet still on as a scene from his new comic was on it. Rumors had been spreading around that this would be the last one, Hye Mi would die and that would be the end of it. Dong Hyun himself wouldn't believe it, his dad wouldn't do that. Setting down the plate with the coffee he prepared, and taking the cup he moved to sit on the black leather chair. His cup falling out of his hand and onto the floor as he saw the scene. Hye Mi, on the railing of the infamous bridge in Seoul, where millions of people have died. "No, no." Panicking, his hand gripped the side of the screen not wanting to believe it. His chocolate brown eyes stared into the screen, tears threatening to spill. It might have been weak or pathetic to some. But over the 3 years this story had been in progress, Dong Hyun had gotten a connection to the main character. Hye Mi was shy, but sweet and caring. She had been on the search for her real parents, but never found a clue and it seemed she had reached her breaking point.
Opening her closed eyes, she looked down at the blue sea. It was exactly 10:58 AM. The sun shone brightly over the city of Seoul, some cars would pass by. But none seemed to care about the girl sitting on the railing, contemplating her life. The girl who was about to take her own life, throw it all away. Suddenly things started to glitch, Hye Mi her eyes widened as she saw a screen appear. "Maybe i'm going insane." She would whisper quietly, but the urge to stick her hand in was huge. "It wouldn't hurt, wouldn't it?" Her hand, shaking from the cold and fear would slowly go in.
Dong Hyun opened his eyes, only to be met with a pair of small fingers, soon an entire hand came out of the glitching screen. His breathing would increase, fear striking him. Analyzing the hand, his eyes came across a silver ring. He recognized it as Hye Mi's. He knew the silver ring on her finger, she got it from her grandmother before passing away. It had a pink diamond on it, the letters H and M were engraved in it. He looked at the hand, his teeth biting his lower lip. Maybe I can save her. He thought, his right hand came in contact with hers and soon he found himself landing on the harsh concrete. A soft feeling on top of him.
Feeling a hand on hers, she would quickly pull it back. But soon she started falling, the boy in front of her heading first to the ground has his eyes still closed. Her head was on top of his chest as they would stay quiet, the rain comforting them. Soon his eyes would slowly open, his chocolate brown eyes met her California blue eyes. The clock would strike 11 AM, the sound ringing through their eyes as it brought then out of their dayream. Hye Mi quickly stood up, biting her pinkish lips as she stared at the black concrete ground. "Gwenchaena?" She asked, her voice so soft and quiet it seemed like she was whispering.
Dong Hyun struggled but managed to stand up as well, rubbing the back of his brown hair. "Nai, you?" He asked, talking quietly as well. The rain was still going furiously, hitting the ground. He noticed Hye Mi quietly nodding before shivering and quickly took her hand, running down the road of the familiar bridge. "Y-Yah, where are we going?" A distressed Hye Mi would yell at the boy carelessly running through the rain, his larger hand firmly holding onto her smaller one.
Soon they arrived at a small cafe, the walls were brown and everything seemed to fit well. Stepping into it carefully, he would guide her to a table at the back. "I'm sorry for dragging you, it was raining." Hye Mi stared at Dong Hyun suspiciously, she didn't trust him. Not one bit. I mean he came through a glitched screen, which brought her to the question. How was it possible? Hye Mi her eyes widened slowly as she got closer to the boy. "Are you an alien?" She whispered, asking quietly.
Dong Hyun scoffed, looking through the menu. "Do I look like a alien? Why do you think that?" He had to cover up the fact, he was in a different world. She couldn't know so he had to lie. Hye Mi bit her lower lip. "Because you came through a glitched screen." She murmured, thinking she was stating the obvious. She hoped she wasn't going insane but her prayers weren't answered when he let out a chuckle. "You must have hit your head hard." The menu she had in her hands, slowly unrevealed her face as she lowered it. Her eyes staring into his as it filled with confusion.
Dong Hyun would lay against the leather skin, staring back into her eyes. "I was running, and saw you attempting suicide. So I stopped you. Common sense." His eyes stared into hers intensively. Hoping she would believe the lie he told her to hide.
Hye Mi let out a small sigh, before nodding. "I've really gone insane." She'd whisper, a waiter coming at their table as they ordered.
Dong Hyun looked one more time at Hye Mi, she was leaning against his shoulder, falling asleep on the train back home he took care of her and made sure she was home safely. Easily finding the keys and address, he kicked the door shut. Making sure she hadn't waken up, he would stay quiet before bringing her upstairs and putting her down on the soft bed.
Biting his lip, he sighed. "Hopefully we meet again."
Small letters appeared on the screen.
