The blaze reaches out, fire light touching every surface in sight. He couldn't scream anymore, there wasn't enough air in him. Smoke burned his lungs and eyes as it engulfed the room. Panic clawed at his being as he dragged himself to the middle of it. A last effort on dwindling list of options. Tears evaporated almost before touching his cheeks and he pulled his knees to his chest as if they could protect him from any of this. He didn't want to think how this would end. Had anyone else gotten out? Mom? Zeke? Please let them not be feeling what he was feeling. Please let them be okay.
