--------------------------------------------------------------
It was math class when it started. On that regular day, except it wasn't really a regular day. It started out that way. But, something out of the ordinary happened... You can say that it doesn't happen everyday... At least in my school it doesn't. But picture this: sunny, warm, and normal. Nothing different and nothing out of the ordinary. But as I was saying before, It was the first day of high school, at least my new high school. My dad and I just moved to Maine because of money problems... But long story short, we were evicted from our apartment and are now living with the help of my dad's family that lives up in Maine. So, we now live in the coldest state of the country... It sucks too because I haven't seen my brother and sister in a year. They helped my dad and I when we were in a really tough spot... My sister was by my side during one of the toughest spots in my entire life and I wish I could repay her which I can't... And the toughest spot I was in, I will explain some other time... When I am more comfortable talking about it... Let's just say it is basically the reason why my dad and I are in such debt, and that I have to work two other jobs outside of school just to help dad pay rent. Yeah... It's been pretty tough on us... But we still smile everyday, we still thank God for what we have, and we still have enough to live unlike the others that don't even have homes. So we don't take anything for granted... Both my brother and sister , live in Virginia with their own families, which was where I was born and raised, .
But beside that, let me tell you a little but about myself. My name is Saphire Marie Lerroy. And yes, my parents purposely spelt Saphire with one "p" and not two. They said it would be special. They wanted to originally name me Laura, but that's my sister's name and Saphire fits better. But most people just call me Saph. I am 15 years old and my birthday is June 12, 1998. I have dark brown hair that goes down to about lower back. I also have dark brown eyes with a special looking design... I have rings that surround my pupil, Bri describes it as the inside of a tree. It is really noticeable in the light apparently. I am 5'6" and weigh about 140 lbs. I am half Colombian and the rest of me is mut. My mom's mother was a mut, and my mom's dad was German. At least that's what my dad has told me. Mom, never really got the chance to tell me herself... Something happened to her... But, my dad's mom is Columbina and so is his dad. Anyhow, I am a gamer on literally everything. Xbox, play station, Nintendo, and even the originals. My favorite colors are blue and orange. And my all time favorite cartoon character is GIR from Invader Zim.
Well that's enough about me, time to explain how irregular my day was. Okay, so I'm gonna go right to the beginning of math class. The bell rang at 1 o'clock, starting 4th block. The last period of the day. Teens were looking forward to getting out on this long and boring first day. Mrs. Felix began to hand out the notes to start the class. We all got out our pencils and she brought up the sheet on the smartboard.
"Okay class, I am not good with names so if I miss pronounce it i apologize..." She told us. "Now I am going to call on anyone I want to start us off! Hmmm...." She mumbled into her sheet that listed all of our names. Then she smiled when she finally picked someone. "Alex Parker! Start us off and read the first paragraph please!" She said and we all looked over at him. He read aloud to us about the different types of geometry and how shapes differ from each other... The basics in Geo/Trig... "Very good, now how about you start us off with the first problem dear." She exclaimed when he finished. He groaned lightly so she didn't hear and looked down at his paper.
"Well to start off... It's a circle..." He said in a smart ass remark. The class laughed a little, and I did too. She gave him a 'seriously?' smirk and he apologized. "Uh, well to find the radius... We need to use... Pi?" He said in a questioned tone. Mrs. Felix was about to say something, but then someone from all the way over on the other class room shot up and jumped out of their seat.
"No!!!" He exclaimed. "You use, PEMDAS!!!" He shouted, thinking he got it right. Mrs. Felix looked at him like he was from another planet.
"Dear, we are in Geometry... Not Pre-Algebra..." She said in a sweet calm voice. All the popular kids began to 'ooooooooooh' in his direction. "Now, when you have an answer sit down and raise your hand calmly..." She said and he sat down in embarrassment. Then I began to zone out... This was too boring for me.
I looked out at the window, which was on the other side of the classroom, the same side the boy who shouted was on. I just stared out into the sky. I do that a lot. I love to look at a beautiful blue sky full of clouds perfect-fully carved. It just makes me wish I could go up there and fly. Now, I have always wanted to fly. Ever since I was a little girl. I just wanna be up there and be free like the birds. So as I stared at the sky I saw a mysterious figure move from the distance. It was strange and gave me a chill up my spine. I had no idea what it was and it scared me. But I'm sure it was just one of the guys cutting the grass, I saw something big and heavy in his hands... It was probably a lawn mower. Oh well... As I focused out in the sky I heard a faint voice call my name repeatedly. I looked back towards the board and I saw a very aggravated Mrs. Felix.... I swallowed hard and prepared myself for what was about to happen.
"Saphire?" She questioned as she looked at the paper.
"Yes ma'm?" I said in a very respectful tone.
"Do you mind telling me why the birds and the sky have anything to do with math?" She said in annoyance.
"Nothing ma'm..." I sighed as my cheeks began to turn red.
"Okay, so let's look up here... Now class-" she began but the principal came onto the speakers and began to make an announcement. But he didn't sound okay in any way.
"I apologize for interrupting class... But there has been an immediate change of plans." He told the entire school taking in a calm breath. "There is an intruder on campus and this is no drill everyone." And as soon as he finished that sentence, there were screams and shrieks throughout the entire building. "REMAIN CALM EVERYONE!" He shouted to us all, but no one listened... "REMAIN CALM! TEACHERS, BEGIN SAFETY PROCEDURE!" He shouted and ended the announcement. Everyone was jumping around and freaking out. I just stayed in my seat and panicked there. Other kids were freaking out.
"CLASS!!!" Mrs. Felix screamed at the top of her lungs, they all stopped, but I stayed there holding my head with my heart pumping fast and terrified. "EVERYONE REMAIN CALM!!!" She continued. "I want all of you to go and sit by that side of the room," she said and pointed towards the one side of the room that was away from the windows. It just as everyone was getting up a loud explosion-like sound occurred on the other side of their school. Panic invaded the classroom and everyone rushed to the door. A dark figure blocked them from opening the door and they all ran away from the door and towards the windows. I began to get up slowly, but then the windows were broken into. I looked over and they were launched back and crashed into the desks, floor, and other side of the room. I stood there in shock as a dark, thin figure with spidering arms hold its up. I was so petrified I could barely even move. All's I did was stare into the deep maroon eyes of the terrifying creature and screamed on the inside. No one could save me now. With its sharp black claws, it grabbed me by the arms and threw me over and onto its shoulder. It laughed horribly, as it it had achieved its goal. Then it threw me into a large, empty truck, the last thing I saw on this deadly creature besides its eyes, was it's terrific scar that I have only seen in my nightmares. Only four people in my nightmares have scars like this... And the scars still have their stitches in tact. These scars lie on those who terrify me the most. I sat there in heart-pounding worry, wondering if I was going to die. I looked around for my phone and tried calling someone, but I had no battery life. I threw it across the truck and cried. I was so terrified of what happened. Where will I go? What will my parents do when they find out? Will I ever see my family again? What will happen to me?... I just wish she was here to help me... I grabbed onto my lightning bolt necklace and wished my mother was there to help... If only... If only she was alive...
