A feminine scream of surprise pierced the air. "GAH!!!!!"

"Surprise!"

"Happy birthday!"

"CALM DOWN!"

"AHHHHHHHH!" The screams and pieces of conversation respectively pierced and floated their way through the air. It was the middle of the night. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE????!!!! HOW DID YOU EVEN GET INTO MY ROOM?????!!!! YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTA..."Quinn raged at Lynn and Kalila, Lynn and Quinn's best friend and a worker at the orphanage.

"BOO!"

"YEAAAAGGGHHH!!!!!!"

"STOP!!"

"Okay, okay, keep your hair on. Goodness gracious," Lynn said, exasperated.

"WHYWOULDYOUDOTHATTOMEYOUALMOSTGAVEMEAHEARTATTACKOMGWHYYOUARESOEVIL!"Quinn said in one breath.

"Calm down! Kalila has something for us."

When Quinn was finally calm the girls sat on the nearest bed and waited for Kalila to join them, But she seemed hesitant to come and deliver the gift.

" OK. This is technically for both of you... but you're both the right age now, I hope, to where you are responsible enough to see this..." She held out her hand as if the was giving them a fragile flower instead of a crumpled piece of paper.

"What is it?" said Quinn

"A note for both of you from Lynn's mother."

"But... They said she died when I was born, and she never got to even see my face."

"That's not true. She loved you both and gave you up-with the consent of Quinn's mother, of course."

"My mother knew about this?"

"Yes. It was for the best. The note will answer all your questions."

Quinn took the note from Kalila's outstretched hands and slowly and carefully uncrumpled the paper.

"The war is here. They are not safe with me. Take them. The one with the black hair and violet eyes is Lynn Silva Brooke Stone, and the one with brown hair and bright green eyes is Quinn Amicus Leto. Protect them... PLease. I only can hope that I am making the right decision... Give this note to a worker named Kalila, but only after you ask her these three questions: What are their names? How did you get here? Who are you? The correct answers to these questions are on the back of this note. Unusual things will happen to both of you, but you must have faith in me and know that it will be alright. DO NOT TELL ANYONE about the dreams, Lynn and Quinn, except for the person that receives this note and basket.. That goes for the person who finds this basket and reads this note. I am sorry, Lynn, but I had to do this. Quinn, your mother misses you and hopes that you will be alright with all her heart. Tell them it is from Lynn's mother, and show them the basket. Keep them until they are ready to face the world. I will come back to see them, and I will take them back to our world, where they belong. Educate them and teach them right from wrong, and teach them to fight for justice. Help them grow and learn. I will know when they are ready. Trust me."
