Chapter 3
Jennifer"s POV
As I calm myself down, I turn around to see a tall, shaggy-haired man with a crossbow swung over his shoulder. I hesitantly backed away thinking he might do me harm. "Woah, woah. It's ok. You passed out and i took care of these walkers before they got to you." The man reached his hand out and helped me up. "It's ok. I won't hurt you. Let's say you and I go sit down and have a talk; get to know each other better."
I slowly nodded my head and walked along side him.
As soon as we sat down the emotions started spilling out of me, uncontrollably, me looking like I had lost everything, eyes red and filled with water. Only the truth was, I just about had lost everything.
" I take it you really loved them, huh?" The man asked. The way he spoke felt like he knew what I was going through, like he cared, understood, yet he didn't even know me.
"THEY'RE GONE!!! THEY'RE ALL GONE! MY WHOLE FAMILY IS DEAD AND I HAVE NO ONE! WHY DID THIS HAPPEN TO ME? TO THEM! THEY DIDN'T DESERVE THIS, NO ONE DID!" I yelled still extremely upset.
"Hey, hey, hey. It's gonna be alright." The man placing his hands on my shoulders." Calm down..." he whispered soothingly. "We've all been through alot these days, and we're going to get through this... together." He carefully wiped away the tears streaming down my face. As I calmed down, the man started to speak again. " I'm Daryl Dixon." I quietly returned the gesture. "I..I'm Jennifer Adams. Where did you come from anyway? What was it like before all this crap happened. Where's your family?"
"Well, my mother and father were never really that good to me and my brother Merle. My dad hit me and my brother all the time, for no damn reason, whenever he pleased. It hurt. My mom was a smoker, in fact that's how she died." I listened patiently, taking in every word. " I remember one day, when I was younger, I was out riding bikes with Merle and his older friends, trying to catch up. I remember them rounding the corner minutes before; and when I finally caught up....." I could see tears forming in his eyes. "There were firetrucks outsisde the house, and I didn't see Merle, but everyone was staring at me, shocked. I didn't really understand what was going on until I looked over to see my house burnt down, nothing but ashes. Merle ran over to me, his eyes red. ' She's gone. She burnt down with the house, from one of her cigs I guess she didn't put out.' All I remember was black, nothing else. Everything I thought I ever had was gone. But my dad and Merle our gone now."
I could see him fighting to hold the tears back. " Anyway, right after this started, I met a really nice group of people and I've been with them the whole time. Well, the whole time until this damn bastard destroyed where we were living, killed many good, innocent people, for no reason. In all the craziness I was seperated from the group, and I don't know where they are, or if they're alive. They are like family to me though, and I have to find them! Can you help me?"
"Yes."
