"You're teaming up with Trevor? To prove that Brandon's innocent?" Rowan asked as i poured my coffee. "Yes. Brandon is innocent. I was hiding in his closet and all that was there was clothes. No guns." I said and Rowan sighed. "Look, i know you like him, and i know he says he likes you. But he is going away for a really long time. The things he's being charged with are serious." Rowan said and i sipped my coffee. "He didn't do anything! Trevor told me that Brandon didn't own any guns. Trevor's his best friend. He would know." I said as i heard a horn outside. "That's my ride. I'll see you when i get home." I said as i grabbed my phone off the counter.

"I have to present that project we were working on together today. I kind of don't want to." I said as i played with my fingers. "Then don't. Mrs. James wouldn't care much." Trevor said as we walked into school. "It's not that, i'm just so bad at projects." I laughed and he did too. "Okay, so I'll see you after school." I said as i walked into Mrs. James' classroom. "Damn, you've already moved on to his best friend?" A boy from the back of the class remarked and i rolled my eyes. "Miss Fricks and Mr. Darrow, you'll be presenting first." Mrs. James said and i frowned and stood up. "Um, Brandon couldn't make it today. I did our project on how you can trust people to the ends of the earth, but then things can happen and it changes everything." I said and took a deep breath. "For example, words are just words. Actions speak louder than words. If you're going to do something to ruin someone's trust for you, then don't make them believe things that aren't true. Such as that you love them. It's not worth it." I took a deep breath at the end and Mrs. James nodded. "I think you and Brandon made an excellent point. Where is he?" She asked and looked around. I sighed as i took my seat.

"I wish i could have been there, i was looking forward to presenting it with you." Brandon said and i nodded. "It's okay. You'll be back soon enough." I smiled and Brandon shook his head. "You don't quit do you?" Brandon smiled. "Nope, never been a quitter." I laughed and looked into his eyes. They weren't as bright as they were before. They looked broken, he looked broken. I placed my hands over his and he smiled again. "Look, Trevor and i are gonna prove that you're innocent. He's gonna help me." I said and Brandon nodded. "What are people at school saying?" He asked and i shrugged. "Not much, unless it's snarky comments about me talking to Trevor." I said and Brandon shook his head.

"Someone who would want Brandon hurt, gone even." I said as i paced my room. "Okay, so start by looking at people who don't want him around." Trevor said and his eyes lit up. "His dad. Brandon was always either at my house or Sean's, because of his dad." He said and i nodded. Maybe he was onto something.
