When we finally got to the lake, Cassidy was passed out with her mouth slightly ajar and little dribbles of drool laced both sides of her mouth. I chuckled slightly at the adorable sight of my baby sister and unbuckled my seatbelt trying to gracefully slide out of the truck. Behind me, Trenton slid out and Parker followed slamming the passenger door shut. Ashtyn had already climbed out and was headed towards the back to unlatch the boat from the truck.
"Hey there Clara balerina, how do you feel about playing a little game?" I heard Parker question me. I had walked to the other side of the truck to retrieve Cassidy. I opened the door slightly to notice her still sleeping form and shuffled to the right until I was facing a smirking Parker.
"What kind of game?" I skeptically answered. I returned to Cassidy and reached in to unbuckle her seat belt, and I slowly removed it from her sweat covered, tiny body.
"Well, it is sort of a copy game, it is super fast I promise! Okay, I will start and you have to copy everything I say, ready go."
I looked at him with an eyebrow raised and mimicked, "ready, go."
I reached in farther and wrapped my arms under the armpits of a now stirring Cassidy. "Good, good, oh my gosh Parker," I looked at him confused as to why he refered to himself in the third person. I then remembered our childish game.
"Good, good, oh my gosh Parker," I copied and noticed that Trenton left to go help Ashtyn unlatch the boat. I slammed Cassidy's door shut with my hip; and I swear by the grace of God the child was still fast asleep. She has unconciously snuggled closer to my chest and rubbed her face on it trying to find a comfortable position. When she finally found it, I glanced back up at Parker with a ghost of a smile on my face.
"I think you are so freaking hot will you go out with me?" he stated still with a smirk on his face and holding himself up with a cocky demeanor.
I stared back at him with a similiar, if not a little more frightening looking. "I think you are so freaking losing your mind and I have a boyfriend." I knew it was a pretty sucky comeback, albeit it was the best I could come up with spontaneously on the spot.
He busted out laughing and Trenton was now looking up laughing too. "You really suck at comebacks Clara," I heard Ashtyn say. You could hear the smirk settling on his messed up, gorgeous face. I had no clue that he was even listening and I could feel my cheeks redden. With that I got the rest of our stuff out of the car and placed it on the boat. I jumped up a small amout to readjust Cass on the front of my body. The boys were working on unhatching the boat so I just started to glance around at my surroundings. I noticed a small rock in the shade of a huge tree to my right. I slowly made my way over to it and crouched until I felt it's rough surface touch the back of my thighs. I sighed loudly and ran a hand down my face. I wiped my forehead and felt the sweat beads on it. I then noticed my heavy breathing and slowly a frown made its way to my face. I could feel the slight burning behind my nose and I slammed all sad thoughts to the back of my brain. No, today was a good day and I was going to have fun.
I looked down to my sleeping beauty and moved her hair out of her face. She groaned and I planted a kiss on her forehead. She stirred slightly then opened her eyes. I found it ironic that we could be so loud around Cass or jostling her around and she only wakes up to a slight kiss. I saw her look up at me and I glanced down at her and smiled at her gently. She reached up her hand and set it on my right jaw and just stared at me with a small smile gracing her face. I couldn't help but bask in this moment with Cassidy. I don't take much things for granted anymore. I realized not to do that after dad left and the second time I lost all my hair. However, I knew I did it again. I looked down at her and realized I do it everytime I hold her tiny hand in my own. Everytime I do her hair in little braids down her back because she hates having it flow in the wind and getting it in her face. When I wake up in the morning and feel a tiny body pushed up onto my own and shivering slightly because the room is cold. I also took for granted holding her and being able to walk with her without getting tired.
