"Everything stays right where you left it..."
Beep beep beep beep
Adrien's eyes snapped open. Tears leaked out of his eyes, dripping down the sides of his face and in his hair. Plagg was sleeping on the couches, unable to tell what had happened. The model waited for a moment, steadying his heartbeat and listening to Plagg's soft purrs.
Adrien sat up slowly, wiping his eyes and stepped into his bathroom. There was no use in dwelling in the past when he had to leave soon.
He washed his face, combed through his hair absentmindedly, then finally stepped out wearing a plain black shirt and dark blue skinny jeans. Nathalie stared at his appearance throughout breakfast. Adrien was only playing with his food, shifting it around and taking small bites every so often. After maybe 15 minutes of this, the woman stood up and headed towards the young Agreste heir.
"Adrien," Nathalie says slowly. "Your schedule... " The blonde grabs it, disheartened. Nathalie begins to walk away, but before she leaves the room and loses her nerves, the woman spins to face him. "And Adrien..?" Adrien glanced at her. "I'm always ready to lend an ear if necessary."
Adrien tried for a smile. Nathalie appreciated the gesture.
As soon as his fathers assistant closed the dining hall doors, Adrien begins to hum. "Let's go in the garden, you'll find something waiting, right there where you left it, lying upside down." Plagg pokes his head out from Adrien's pocket and nuzzles his face. The young boy pets his kwami with a single finger.
Nathalie leans against the door, listening to the sickly sweet words coming from the blonde. She hears footsteps creep closer to the exit and she makes herself scarce. She hopes he finds comfort today.

Adrien is in a haze during school. When Chloe pounces on him, he slips from her grasp easily and continues with Nino. The dark headed boy is talking excitedly, but Adrien doesn't seem into it. Marinette notices and tells Alya.
"Do you know what happened?" Marinette whispered. Alya shook her head. "Lets check it out," she mumbles back, and they head over to where the boys were standing by a pillar, as if they do this every day. Because they do.
"Hey guys!" Alya chirps. Nino greets her just as enthusiastically, but Marinette slips out of their conversation to make her own. "You alright?" she asks. Its easier to calm herself down in front of him now, and she doesn't have to spend a lot of energy repressing giddy feelings. Adrien breathes in shakily through his mouth, but nods nevertheless. Marinette notices he's swaying back and forth a bit, enough to be on time for music. The girl runs two fingers in his hair and caressed a cheek. "Okay then," the designer says gently.
Adrien craves the warmth coming from the girls hands, but the bell rings before he can chase her. Nino hooks an arm around his broad shoulders. "You alrighty bro? Sorry I didn't ask before."
Adrien offers a breathless, humorless chuckle. "Its alright Nino. I don't mind."
Nino doesn't push it.

The blonde boy is tired, emotionally spent, and is laying in class with his eyes peeking out above his arms on his desk. The class is filled with the hum of voices as students turn to chatter amongst themselves. The only ones that aren't speaking are Marinette and himself. Nino had turned around to talk to Alya, but nudged or put his hand on Adrien's shoulder at times.
The model can't work on the assignment in front of him. His focus keeps slipping away to his mothers hands against his face and her voice drifting in the wind. He begins to sing lowly, not noticing what he was doing until he realized his desk partner had begun to notice the tears trailing tracks on his cheeks. Ms. Bustier walks up to him, concern written plainly on her face. Adrien feels lucky that his entire class hadn't heard anything.
His teacher offers him a break, and he takes it almost greedily. He grabs his bag and sits outside, able to lean his head against the wall and sing to himself. Plagg settles himself in the hollow of Adrien's collarbone. He doesn't notice when Marinette steps out of the classroom with a package, or when she crouches down in front of him.
"Let's go to the garden," Marinette hums with him. Adrien starts, trying to grab Plagg but Marinette puts her hand over his and gives him a look. I know, it says, I know and its okay. "You'll find something waiting," Adrien continues, hands shaking underneath Marinette's. She sits crossed legged in front of him and caresses his face.
"Right there where you left it, lying upside down." Adrien leaned against the dark haired girl, and she welcomed him with a warm embrace. "When you finally find it, you'll see how its faded. The underside is lighter when you turn it around."
Adrien feels more tears leak from his eyes and his body quakes. Marinette only holds him tighter against her body. "Everything stays, right where you left it. Everything stays, but it still changes. Ever so slightly, daily and nightly. In little ways, everything stays... "
Adrien cracked, years of pent up emotion released in his heavy sobs. He chest heaved against her own, and the beautiful girl only rubbed his back, whispering sweet nothings in his ears and humming his lullaby to him. She, Tikki, and Plagg waved off any akumas their way. There was no way that the three of them would let that happen.
When Adrien's sobs slowed and his tears ceased to stream down his face, Marinette grabbed a package that she brought out. "I have chocolate. Your favorite kind."
Adrien lifted his head from her belly to look at her. "How do you know what my favorite chocolate is?" He whispered suspiciously. Marinette only smiled, offering no explanation but holding a treat in her hand. He looked at it greedily.
"Is that -" She nodded. He looked at her in confusion. "But I only told..."
"You said that these were your favorite during patrol 3 weeks ago, right?" The noirette smiled at him, the treat melting slightly in between her fingers. "But how-"
He gaped up at her. "No."She tilted her head. "No?"
Adrien smiled widely, outshining the sun and simultaneously causing her heart to melt. "Oh my God, Mari, oh my GOD." Tikki popped up from her shoulder and giggled. Marinette put the chocolate in the boy's open mouth, laughing at his reaction. He chewed thoughtfully. "This," he said, reaching for another one, "this is really good."
Alya and Nino poked their heads out. "Hey cuties," Alya grinned. Nino shook his head. "C'mon dudes, class is gonna end in 5."
Adrien whined, digging his head back into Marinette's belly. The two by the door laughed at the model's antics. His partner only sighed, smiling fondly down at him. "Come chaton, we need to get up." He groaned again. "Don wanna." The designer ruffled his hair. "Come on kitten, you can come to my house for lunch?" she offered. Adrien turned to her, disbelief written on his features. "Really!?"
Marinette laughed. "Really."
The blonde boy excitedly got up and grabbed his bag, beaming. Marinette grinned up at him, bumping his hip. He nearly slammed into the door.
The pair walked into class, fond smiles painted on each others faces as they gathered their papers and waited for the bell. Adrien wiggled in his seat. He was holding the box of chocolates close to his chest, looking up to the girl sitting directly behind them. Marinette leaned over and scratched his scalp.
Adrien purred, leaning towards the desk she was sitting in. He was grateful for his beautiful, wonderful Lady Luck. Plagg snorted in his bag, already preparing for the rant coming in tonight.
The boy could hardly care less. He was being showered in close affection, something he hadn't had for years. As he looked up at his Lady, she smiled down at him fondly. His heart beat erotically. Adrien knew he was gonna be okay.
She made everything okay.
