Waking up

My eyes flutter open and a yellowy light with white hospital beds fill my view. I sit up quickly. "Where am i?" I hear the quick rustle of a magazine.

"Oh my god, your awake! Should I call someone?" My friend Cassie says.

I rub my eyes slowly. "Yeah, I guess." She stands up and runs pats the curtains shouting SHE'S AWAKE! I hear a doctor mumbling.

"For the last time miss Williams, the movement of the hand does not mean she is awake. It is merely reflexes to the drugs." He turns the corner and sees me. He doesn't apologise to Cassie at all. He puts a clip thing on my finger and talks Inthe most mind numbing voice ever. "Oxygen levels are 98% which is all good. Miss Beethay, can you remember anything from your fall?" He stares at me with his droopy eyes.

I think.

I remember the smashing sounds of glass and the fall, but not the landing. I must have blacked out then. I tell him this.

"Ok miss Beethay, you are free to go now." He turns around and leaves the curtained area. I get out and leave with Cassie.

"Do you want to go home or get some food?" She asks me. I tell her I want to go home.

Cassie is ginger with glasses and has wavy hair. Her nose is too small and it looks like she has no eyebrows. She is too tall and still wears high heels. She is wearing a red short dress with black lace. She has attempted to apply mascara but there is some on her eyelid and looks odd.

There is an awkward silence. She interuppts "phew, I'm glad we can move on from the crummy hospital food, and there is so much you can read from the same magazine, 'bear Payne, the offspring from Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne,'"

I laugh but not a rolling on the floor laugh, just a large exhale through my nose.

We arrive at my flat and talk for an hour. I tell her about my work promotion and she says about her cats furball. So interesting.

She was my best friend since high school. She tripped over and broke her arm and I stayed with her. She was bullied and I was the only one to like her. But she can get damn annoying.

"Any way, I've got to get home and eat, I'll see you tomorrow maybe?" She said.

"Yeah, sure?" I said.she flounced on me and hugged me. I just sat there patting her back

"I'm so glad your ok!" Then she turned around and left. The door closed before I could say bye.

I sat in my sofa and stroked Ronald. He dribbled on my leg and looked up at me with puppy eyes. I stroked the scruff of his neck. "I know, I know, why am I so lonely? Hmm?" I looked at the time and it was 23:07. "And why is it nearly midnight and we haven't eaten yet hey?" He smelt my microwave meal and jumped off the sofa. I heard the ping of my microwave and a gunshot.
