"Ya, your boyfriend's calling you." Youngmin points towards her phone that's lying on the table next to her cup of noodles, his mouth full to the extent that he looks more like a chipmunk than an alpaca at the moment.
Hikari reaches for her phone, placing her chopsticks on top of the cup as she accepts the call and Jonghyun's face pops up on the screen, breaking into a smile when he sees her.
"Kari! Have you eaten already?"
She puts the phone away from her face so that her noodle cup and Youngmin can also be seen, putting it somewhere it can be steady so she can eat properly. Jonghyun greets him with another bright smile and Youngmin waves, his mouth full again. "Did you finish whatever work you had to do?"
Instead of answering, Jonghyun just frowns slightly, "Don't talk with your mouth full, Min."
Youngmin stays completely silent while eating his noodles for the next minutes Hikari and Jonghyun, even getting up to buy another cup in the middle of the call. Eventually, her boyfriend tells her he has to get back to his graphic stuff and that he has to regrefully end the call.
"I'll call you again in a few hours." He promises her, showing his pinky finger towards the camera as she just laughs and holds out hers as well. "Make sure Min walks you home, okay? Bye! Love you!"
She's just opening her mouth to say something in reply when he quickly leans in and kissing the camera of his phone before ending the video call before she can say anything. Knowing him, he's probably laughing at what just happened and she smiles at the thought, shaking her head just as Youngmin comes back with a steaming cup.
"Third flavor of the day." He announces proudly.
She hops off the chair, "And I'm getting our fourth one."
It's another half hour before they set off to walk home ("Ri, I'm walking you home, don't fight me on this. Fight your boyfriend instead; he asked me to anyway.") with Youngmin's hands on her shoulders as they trudge down the sidewalk, him poking her cheeks every so suddenly and her slapping his hands away.
Moments later, they're walking side by side, with him jumping around and laughing because she almost walked in a pole because of him poking her cheeks, then fell backwards on her butt because she stopped so suddenly. She folds her arms across her chest and sighs, "You're mean."
"Well, you're very clumsy. You're just like Hyungseob."
Hyungseob is a freshman they both know because he's in the dance club where Youngmin spends a lot of his time at when he has nothing to do, and he is a very talented writer that accidentally stumbled into Hikari's still life class one day and the teacher took a liking to him. He's very clumsy, by the way; he has a very bad habit of almost always walking into glass doors. Nobody knows why he never remembers where the glass doors are, and Hyungseob said himself that he doesn't know why, either.
"I at least know where the glass doors are."
"It's been four years in college, of course you do. Don't be mean to him, he's such a sweet and pure kid."
Hikari swipes her hand at his arm and he avoids her easily, laughs slipping past his lips as he quickly walks while balancing himself on the edge of the sidewalk. She doesn't see him stealing glances at her.
"Yah, Hikari."
She hums, glancing at him, "What?"
"Why don't you ever show us your sketchbook? I mean, aside from the reason you tell your boyfriend, but i don't think that applies to me; I'm not an art student. So why won't you show me? It's not like I'll copy your work anyway."
He falls silent, stepping off the edge and standing on the corner of the street whule reaching for her arm to keep her from leaving him behind and waiting for an answer. She doesn't give him one. She's not going to. No way is she going to explain to him why his drawings are the ones in her sketchbook instead of her own boyfriend's.
They stop in front of her house a few minutes past eight, and he tilts his head at her, a small smile creeping on his lips.
"Don't forget to tell your boyfriend I did my job, yeah?"
She snorts, "Don't worry, I won't forget."A sudden awkward atmosphere falls between them and her hands go behind her back, her gaze to her feet. Youngmin clears his throat and she looks back up; he's scratching the back of his neck and looking up at the moon.
"See you tomorrow, then?"
He focuses his eyes on her, nodding. "See you tomorrow."
She's waiting for him to turn around and leave before going inside, that's always been the practice. But he stands there for a few long moments and she raises her hand, waving it in front of his face.
"Youngmin?"
He suddenly leans over and plants a soft peck on her forehead before turning on his heel and leaving without another word.
