Liza's POV
"Alex?"

My father cleared his throat. "Alex Ernst. Your boyfriend"

"My boyfriend?" I questioned. My mom nodded.

"Yes. You two have been together since, well, forever. You're planning to go to college with him." Two officers then entered the room.

"Gentlemen?"  My mom stood, smoothing out her pants.

I recognized officer Rhode, but the older office was new to me. He stepped forward and nodded at my parents.

"We need to ask Liza some questions"

"can it wait?" Asked my father. He stood up from his chair. "I'm sure there's a better time" my father said.

"We're happy that your daughter appears to be in one piece, but unfortunately, there's another family who's still hoping for news on their daughter." There was someone else? I sat up straighter, looking between my parents.

"What?" I questioned.

My mom came to my side, talking my hand. "They're talking about Gabrielle."

"Gabrielle?" I said confused.

"Gabrielle Hanna is your best friend. She disappeared with you." My mom told me.
-
Gabrielle Hanna. Best friend. That was an important term, but just like mother and father, there were no memories or emotions tied to it. The older officer introduced himself as a Detective Ramirez, and he proceed to ask the same questions that everyone had. Before the detective left I remembered something.

"Wait, I remember something" I jerked forward, forgetting about that IV. It tugged at my hand, nearly coming loose.

"What do you remember?" Asked Detective Ramirez. I swallowed, my throat became suddenly dry. "I remember rocks, they were like boulders and they were smooth. Flat. Colored like sand." And blood, but I didn't say that, because I wasn't sure if that part was true.

"That's good. That's really good. We think you were in the state forest, and that would make sense." The officers turned and discussed somethings with my parents.

For some reason I felt guilty. I wanted them to find her, I wanted to help, but I didn't know how I could.
-
My parents checked me out of the hospital the next day. We left the hospital, driving back home in our Bentley. I quickly learned that we were rich. Sickeningly rich. Then I saw our house. It was the size of a small hotel. I walked in and I was immediately overwhelmed. There was a crystal chandelier that was probably worth more than my life. I suddenly didn't want to move. Expensive stuff everywhere.

"It's okay, Liza just take it easy" my dad said as he placed his hand on my shoulder. He dropped his hand.

"Jackie, why don't you take her upstairs?" My mom came wrapping her cold hand around my arm. She led me upstairs. I room was on the third floor, at the end of a long hall lit by several wall sconces. I entered the unfamiliar room, which smelled like peaches, stopping a few feet in.

"I'll give you a few minutes" my mom said.

"I had Mason lay out some of your yearbooks. They're on your desk when you're ready. Dr. Weston said they could help" my mom added.

Help with finding my memories. I nodded as I scanned the room. It as big. Like, two times bigger than the hospital room. My mom cleared her throat. I'd forgotten about her. Turning around, I waited. Her smile as awkward.

"I'll be downstairs if you need me"

"okay." With a nice nod, she left, and I started to investigate the room. I avoided the yearbooks that were on my desk and made my way to the closet, opening the double doors. It was a walk-in. After I investigated the closet I went near my bed. There was corkboard full of pictures. I had lots of friends, and they were...dressed like me. In one photo there were five girls. I was in the middle, and all of us wore the same shimmery dress in different colors. Oh dear god. Matching dresses? I smirked as my eyes drifted over the images and in every picture the same girl was beside me. In some, we had our arms each other or were puckering our lips for the camera. She always wore purple. Her smile was like mine, and she was Gabrielle. A hot feeling sparked in my stomach. Jealousy? Was I jealous of her? That couldn't be right. She's my best friend. I wanted to know more about her.
-
"Look who's back" I startled, I jumped at the sound of the deep voice and dropped the picture of Gabrielle and I, I turned around. A boy stood in the doorway. He was my brother. We shared some features. This was Mason. We were fraternal twins. At least, that was what mom had explained on the way home.
