Day 2: 4:00 AM
I lay helplessly in bed. This chemical Evan talked about...it scares me.
What if the vial breaks when I'm getting it? What if I mess up everything and it's all my fault? No one can help me because it's too late.
I hear the sound of the door opening.
"Can't sleep either?" I asked, not knowing who it was because I was under the sheets.
"Of course not. This is the one of the most dangerous mission we have had to do." Moo's voice rang.
I sat up and saw Moo sitting by me. He fixed my messy hair as I stare out the window, seeing raindrops drumming against the window. The sky was tar-black that brought serene and tranquility to my fast-beating heart. The sky made the loudest sound and I shook up into Moo's arms where he held me.
"You'll be okay, I know your skills and you have everything that's perfect. There's no way that you'll mess up this mission." He comforted.
"I'm not ready" I contradict, my voice being shaky.
"None of us are."
"Then why are we trying? There's no point if all we're going to do it's fuck things up." I got out of his grip. "I can't live in constant fear of failing."
"We don't get to choose our time. To know your days are numbered is what gives you the hustle you need to not fail. You don't need to succeed to not fail." He spoke softly.
"You confuse the hell out of me" I laughed. "Thank you for that."
"What are you working on?" He asked as he saw my laptop.
No lies even tried coming out. I trusted him. "I'm working on formula so that I could revive. To know that I can keep trying if I get shot or blown up or whatever."
"S-so you can revive. Come back to life? And never die?"
"You can still die but not from force. If you 'die' from a bomb, you'll just come back to life."
"We should get some sleep." Moo suggested.
"Could you stay? I can't fall asleep and we have to be ready for tonight." I asked.
Moo laughed and lays down next to me, I followed.
"Goodnight Ace."
"Goodnight"
And every worry that filled up my heart, went away. I felt safe. Safe was something I haven't felt ever before. It was strange, yet marvelous. Like I couldn't get enough of it. I knew it would be gone but I enjoyed the moment as is. I felt safe.
