The last month of the summer holidays had flown by and as if by magic, September 1st had finally arrived. I skipped down the stairs with my trunk and Nixy closely in tow. Dad sat at the table, per usual, drinking his customary cup of coffee and reading The Daily Prophet.
"Where is breakfast?" I asked as I sat down next to him.
Barely even looking up from his paper, he pointed to the stove saying, " over there in the oven"
I was greeted by a steaming cup of coffee and a bowl of oatmeal when I opened the door to the oven. I doctored the oatmeal up with brown sugar and milk as I always do and then began to read a book I had purchased a few days prior when me and Dad had went back to Diagon Alley to pull more money out of Gringotts for the school year.
We both read in silence for a little while before my father stood up slowly and declared that it was time to head to Kings Cross Station for the Hogwarts Express. We quickly gathered all of our belongings and then apparated there. The crowds of muggles that milled about were nearly impossible to navigate through with a huge trunk and Kneazle to contend with. However after much maneuvering we arrived at what appeared to be a simple wall between platforms 9 and 10. But any wizard, or witch, with half a working brain knew what it really was. The entrance to Platform 9 3/4, the train that would take hundreds of wizard children to the best Wizarding school in the whole of Europe, arguably in the world, Hogwarts.
I quickly looked both ways to make sure no stray muggles were paying attention to us then made a running go at the wall entrance. Withing seconds i rushed out the other side and onto platform 9 3/4. Draco waved me over to him and his family almost as soon as i became visible on the platform. I grabbed my father's hand once he too came through the wall and led him over to my new friend and his family.
"Sierra!" Draco greeted when we were with in ear shot.
"Hey Draco. How was the remainder of your holiday?"
He grinned, "It was good. Though i was so eager for September 1st to arrive that the month seemed to never end."
I was about to respond when a man whom i assumed to be Draco's father abruptly cut into our conversation, "Draco you are being terribly rude. You have yet to introduce your mother and I to this friend of yours."
Draco flushed in embarrassment. "Sorry father, i completely forgot. This is Sierra Snape, the girl i told you about when i went to Diagon Alley when mum and I went school shopping."
Mr. Malfoy nodded his head slowly, "Hello Miss Sierra, i am sure the friendship between you and my son will be most advantageous to the both of you."
"Yes Mr. Malfoy i would sure hope so." I responded respectfully as my father had always taught me to do when speaking with my elders.
"Please call me Lucious. There is no need to be so formal. You and my son are friends."
I nodded my head slowly and then Mrs. Malfoy spoke up, "And dear, please feel free to call me Narcissa. Draco has told me all about how its just you and your father and i would be more than happy to give you a bit of motherly advice if you ever need it."
The whistle on the train blew just then, signalling that the Hogwarts Express would be leaving soon. Draco and I bid our parents goodbye and then began the trek to the train. We left our trunks with the appropriate people (A/N: Honestly couldn't remember how they do that whole thing) and then began to look for our friends since they clearly had again abandoned us alone and made other plans by themselves.
