Rose sat on the porch waiting for her best friend Ann. She had her sketch book, colored pencils, markers, and phone next to her on the ground. She stood there waiting but got bored so she sat down and looked at her sketchbook.
Ann had been Rose's best friend since third grade. Ann was 13, just like Rose. She was really shy , and didn't like much attention. She liked ponies, animals, and drawing. Ann had a lot of siblings, and never really had time for herself.
Ann's mom pulled up in front of Rose's house. Ann got out and walked quietly up to the porch. Rose was looking at something she drew and didn't notice. "Boo!", Ann yelled as she jumped on the porch. Rose screamed. She saw that it was Ann and layed back on the porch ground laughing. Ann was laughing by the door and Rose threw a bouncy ball at her head.
They both walked inside the house and stood in front of the door thinking of what to do. "Wanna look at my sketchbook", Rose asked. " Sure",Ann replied. " should we go outside", Ann asked as she pointed to Rose's siblings playing on the floor. "Yeah," she said as they a started walking towards the basement.
Rose's house had a door at the end of the basement that led outside, so they had to go through the basement every time they wanted to go outside. " Me and Ann are going outside!," Rose yelled to her dad in the other room. "OK , but be back in side in time to eat dinner, we're having spaghetti." "OK", they both yelled back.
They both rushed down the steps into the basement. " Race ya!" Said Ann. She was always the more athletic one. Rose was more into fashion and art. Ann started to run forward. "Wait!", said Rose as she put her hand in front of Ann's chest so she couldn't run forward. Rose pointed towards the tornado shelter on the other side of the basement by the door. Rose could see a glowing coming from the inside of it, and a strange noise, that almost sounded like, a voice?
