Ch.8 Birth

Months later

"I think it's time!" Selina screamed. She was breathing heavily.

"How do you know?" Christian was running around. He grabbed his jacket, his car keys, and ran out the door. A couple of seconds later, he came running back. "I'm not the one giving birth, I forgot you."

He helped her get up. Selina gasped. The pressure was horrible. Twins were heavy. After getting kicked out of her mom's house, Christian took her in.

"Hurry up, get me to the hospital, FAST!" Selina snapped at him. Getting in the car, also hurt.The babies were pushing hard to get out. 

"No problem baby, but I also don't want to get stopped by the police, or else we'll never get there." He chuckled. Selina rolled her eyes. She had no time for Christian's dumb jokes.

"Please, just go, these kids are gonna kill me!" Selina groaned in pain.

"Don't over exagerate. They just want to see their mother and father." He lauged again.

"How about you shut up, and drive the damn car!" Selina was yelling now. Her mood swings were worst than ever now. She regretted yelling at Christian, his look of hurt was also hurting her. She broke down crying.

"Hey, hey, baby, don't cry, it's your mood swings, I understand. Your words dont hurt me." He strained a smile, but it didn't convince her.

"They do! I'm so sorry Christian. I didn't mean to yell at you." Selina ceased crying, but sobs still escaped her throat.

"Push, baby, push! Just one more baby, and you're done." Christian was beside her, holding her hand. He had been giving her instructions for the past two hours.

In a calm voice, Selina told him, "If you open your mouth to tell me to push, one more time, I will have the doctor kick you out. Understand?" Christian looked hurt. Selina had repeated the same thing since the beginnig of her labor.

"Good job Selina. They both are boys. Nurse, take the other baby." The doctor wrapped up the baby, and smiled at Selina.

"Go to sleep Selina, you will need the energy for our babies." Christian let go of her hand, and sat down opposite from her bed. He turned his back on her.

"Are you mad that I snapped at you for the past hour?" Selina started to cry.

"No, Selina, you're wrong, I love you. I just need to rest, I'm very tired. You should sleep to." Selina nodded. His voice was cold.

"Wake up Selina." Christian shook her awake. "The doctor is here."

Selina blinked a couple of times, and looked at the doctor sleepy. "Are my babies ok?" Selina asked.

"I have good news, and with good news comes bad news." The doctor replied. Now he had Selina's full attention.

"What happened doctor?" Selina was becoming scared.

"You had a healthy baby boy, but unfortunately, the baby's umbilical cord wrapped around the other baby's neck. We couldn't save him. He died during labor." The doctor shook his head.

"M-my baby!" Selina wailed. Christian was at her side in an instant. He stroked her hair.

"Shh...Selina, don't worry. At least we have our other baby." He tried comforting her. 

"Nurse! Bring in the baby." The nurse came in and put Selina's baby in her arms. "He is very beautiful." The nurse smiled at her.

"What are you going to name him?" The doctor asked.

"Xavier, from Xavier and Jerimiah." Selina replied right away. "Is it alright with you, Christian?"

"Anything you want baby." His gaze softened when he looked at Xavier's little pink body. His little eyes closed.

"He looks a lot like you Christian." Selina smiled up at him. Her tear streaked face portrayed sadness and happiness at the same time.

"We will all miss our other little boy, but on the bright side, Xavier was born nice and healthy." Christina bent down, and kissed Xavier on the forehead. Then he kissed Selina.

"Since we found no problem, you are allowed to go home today." The nurse walked into the room. Selina was feeding her baby.

"Thank you nurse." Christian responded. He gathered up all of the things he had brought, and took them to the car.

"Hold Xavier for me please." Selina handed him the baby. She changed, then hand in hand, walked out with Christian. 

"I love you Christian," Selina leaned her head on his shoulder.

"I love you too, Selina." He answered.
