"I thought I can bang her tonight," I heard Axel muttered causing me to glare at him. He just raised both of his hands as a sign of surrender.
"Everyone, calm down," the black guy said.
"Right. Take the stage, Mr. Rocco-la-to," Sam mockingly said. I don't know who's the black guy but I think he's a very honorable person. What a shame.
Good thing Mr. Black guy is wise enough to not talk back at the immature tan girl who just loves annoying the heck out of people.
"Mr. Rocco . . . " Dr. Z begged the guy with his eyes to settle everything down. Mr. Rocco intently looked at me and moved his head telling me to sit down.
I did as I was told.
"Everyone in this table, I want you to act based on your positions. I want to see why you are deserving to be seated on the same table as I am," Mr. Rocco said. It made me furrowed my brows out of curiosity on who on earth is he, anyway?
Dr. Z noticed my reaction and so he coughed a little and stood up making everyone look at him.
"Aria, this is Mr. Rocco Neville. Founder of the Phoenix Organization. The organization includes the agency you've been trying to be a part of since almost five months ago, this private hospital we're now in and other big institutions not only in this city but also outside the region."
What the hell.
I looked at Mr. Rocco and he's just shook his head like that description wasn't a big deal.
"I am Zeus Robinson. Also known as Dr. Z. I am the head of all the scholars working on the Phoenix laboratories and hospitals."
Aside from feeling leaving the room, jumping out on a building seems accurate to do right at this moment.
Why am I even here, anyway?
I bowed my head and played with my fingers under the table. That was a really embarrassing burst out. To think that people like Mr. Rocco and Dr. Z witnessed that.
I wonder why Sam is here aside of being Dr. Z's sister. And even Axel.
Fake coughs from two people simultaneously reigned the whole room. Of course, it came from the playboy and the cocky girl.
All eyes were on them.
"What? You're not going to introduce us to her and make us feel good about our achievements?" Sam asked to his brother.
"We might get into that later but for now," he looked at me. "I want you to understand that we need you."
Nothing is clear to me.
"Need me?" Frustrated me needs some clear explanations.
I glimpsed at Sam rolling her eyes. "Pft, don't flatter yourself. You're just one in a hundred."
"Can you please let him do the talking?" I was surprised when Axel said something right.
My eyes caught his. I was almost at the verge of believing that he's not that kind of person not until he winked at me and smirked.
My attention shifted to Mr. Rocco when he started to explain me what's going on.
"We need people like you. Our city, Elajar, is on a great risk when the terrorists started to attack us a month ago. Our organization saved thousands of people but we lost almost ten thousand lives," he explained.
Ten thousand? That's a huge number. I wonder how people who lost someone felt that time.
"Why are they attacking our city?" I managed to whisper.
