Chp.3
Little Time left
With Beau leaving within the next two days Dixie decided to make their last courting an eventful one as she was walking to the store to ask Beau if he would take her on a carriage ride to the spring where she had secretly planned them a picnic. And then she saw it, Beau was in the store where there was another woman talking to Beau and asked him to drive her around the valley in her new wagon. Beau agreed and then saw Dixie in the window with tears streaming down her face ruining her makeup. As Beau went out to explain to her what had happened and just as quick as it had begun it ended as Dixie ran away kicking up a trail of dust behind her. Dixie ran to the church closed the doors behind her and almost ran straight in the parson on her way to a Pugh up front. There she cried until her makeup looked like a circus clown. Beau saw her and ran in but she wouldn't allow him to touch for he had touched her heart and then broken it. As Dixie left the Churchyard she bumped into a tall ,handsome, young stranger who apologized for bumping into her as if it were his fault. Quickly their eyes met and he asked her out for dinner and she agreed just to make Beau jealous as he was watching the whole ordeal. With angry read burning cheeks Beau rushed out into the street and punched the young man hard in the face. when the young man got up he threw an equally as hard punch back to Beau, at this about 12 of the townsfolk gathered around cheering them on including women and children. Dixie cried some more thinking about how the men could kill each other and then ran to get the law but by then it was to late, Beau had beaten the young man Scotty until he staggered up to his feet waving a white handkerchief in the air. Dixie had not ever been so upset with someone in her life than she was at Beau at that moment so she and slapped him hard across the face for what he had done and then walked away leaving Beau amazed and astonished for what had happened.
